And, we added signal to plates 1871 and 1944. We had a spectro hardwared problem; see log and problems section. We filed PR6311 for the problem. We had more windscreen touches tonight; see problems section for Watcher messages. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon checkout: ------------------- Done. Spectrograph focused at temp. -1.4 C. No problems to report. Night: ------ We had moon at the start of the night, so we of course went with spectro. 01:01Z Cart 02, plate 2040 (segue104). Guide stars on goToField with last night's offsets. Seeing was somewhat variable since the wind came from the north-northeast. We had to disableFiber 09. Plate was declared done in two exposures. 02:24Z Cart 03, plate 2068 (seguefaint105). Guide stars on goToField. Clouds started increasing during this part of the night. We completed six 1200-sec exposures but were unable to declare this plate done. 04:55Z Cart 07, plate 1871 (chunk93). Guide stars on goToField. We completed two good exposures, but lost the next two because of clouds, which became a problem at 05:44Z. Yet, four additional exposures later we were able to declare this plate done. 08:00Z Cart 06, plate 1944 (chunk99). Guide stars on goToField. Guide fiber 11 was disabled. During the second exposure while making an exposure time change, we had a spectro hardware problem with the shutters of sp1; see problem section for error message and the results of a several 'mechSend s' commands. We tried rebooting the sp1-Mechs. And although sp1-mechs produced the series of beeps after rebooting, our situation was not changed. We opened the inside door of sp1-Mech and reseated the spade-type connectors on the long terminal strip. After wards, sp1 worked normally. Then, unfortunately, we had a bit of a problem with clouds and low efficiency. After the clouds became less of a problem and seeing improved, we still had low efficiency for some reason. We tried doing another guider flat; however, the efficiency remained low, i.e., ~20%. Yet, the SN^2 captured during the subsequent 1200-sec exposure was normal. We were unable to declare this plate done because of clouds. 12:01Z Clouds increased to the point that closed. endNight finished and was happy. See problems section for misc.
