We rock! ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Start with the imager mounted, as the weather in late afternoon looked exceedingly good. See problems section regarding: logTool error messages; temperature sensors; azimuth axis abort; rotator acceleration errors. At about 23:45, we noticed watcher had reported a vdd2 error for CCD04, but the watcher plot showed no anomalies, and the error did not recur. The sky camera stalled at 05:12 and was restarted at 05:32. We could not get the last 2 deg of the re-scan of strip 82 S/ As this strip will be re-observed many times, we would like input on whether we should try to complete this end of the strip as a separate run. Observing sequence: 20:05 Imager bias on telescope. 20:15 Donuts on strip 82 S, which we had started on after being confused over priorities on Scot's observing plans page. Emailed Scot to ask him to simplify the format. 20:35 Strip 43 S. We did not leave enought time to tweak the nuErr to small values, but survived. 21:12 Ramp up to science. 21:40 Noticed logTool still thought we were in imager setup. Changed by hand. 21:42 Seeing degraded around frame 112, but stayed within bounds. 22:22 End of science frames at frame 181. Strip complete. 22:30 Strip 86 S. We left too much time (~20 minutes) for correcting nuErr this time. 23:30 Azimuth abort! Just on start of science area. See problems section for details.. 23:54 Back on sky again, ramp up to science. 00:01 Start science. 00:25 Seeing marginal around frame 70-80 (watcher complained, though seeingRun showed the data as ok). We keep running to see if it is temporary, as we do not have enought data for this run to be useful yet. 00:38 Seeing varying rapidly. Wind swinging to NE. 01:00 Seeing improving again. 01:21 End of science area with sub-arcsecond seeing again. Strip complete. 01:30 Spectrophotometric standard BD+28o4211. Followed the standard procedure (and checked-in some minor amendments) without problems. We printed the finding charts for all the fall season standards, and put copies in the Observers' Bible New Testament for easy reference. These were inverted, so the printed chart has the same orientation as seen in the fsaoImage displays. 02:05 Strip 82 N, to complete the strip started last night. 02:29 Skippy and focus ok, but seeing > 2 arcsec. We are observing a long overlap with the data taken last night, hoping the seeing will improve before the overlap ends. It did! 02:37 Start science with seeing below 1.5'' again and improving. 04:06 End of science, ramp down. Stip complete. 04:14 End of ramp. 04:40 Strip 82 S, to get as much as possible before twilight. 04:47 Ramp up to science. 04:55 Start science. We ran until twilight started to saturate the U chips, then declarde the preceeding ~2 degrees to be ramp down. Got all but the last 2 deg of the strip. As this is a re-scanned strip, we would like input on whether the last couple of degrees should be covered separately. 05:27 18-deg twilight started about frame 125. 07:20 endNight is running happily but has a long way to go to finish.
