APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday June 8, 2004 (MJD 53165) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Atsuko Nitta Night: Dan Long, Pete Newman Support: Craig Loomis Visitor: Steph Snedden (hoping to observe on 3.5m tonight) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Mud: more clouds, rain and very high dust counts. Did not open. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon =========== No collimation adjustment needed. I checked the ALT voltages to make sure the two voltages trace each other as I go up and down. They did. Therefore the new counter weight is not any indication of problem. We lost communications with the dust counter during early evening because PT's Xyplex terminal server rebooted itself. Craig investigated but could not determine the exact cause, so he provided a configured pare should the failure recur. Night ==== Clouds, rain and dust. And LOTS of dust, too: counts of 1um particles of at least 128498 per 0.1 cu. ft. were recorded. By 09:30Z, counts were still above 10000 with an hour to morning twilight, so we gave up. endNight ran onto the cloudy-night tapes. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4660 23:23Z 23:36Z 100 O -42.43 -39.12 36 ignore doghouse ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 27081, plate -9999 ------- 23:22 27081 0.0 bias ----- sequence 27082, plate 1821 ------- 23:26 27082 10.0 flat 23:28 27083 2.0 arc 23:32 27084 2.1 arc 23:35 27085 2.1 arc ----- sequence 27086, plate -9999 ------- 23:56 27086 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- No tapes to ship or store. ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:15Z 72 25 8 292 (WNW) 2015 - Overcast 23:46Z 70 24 13 249 (WSW) 2151 - " 00:17Z 69 25 5 276 (W) 2184 - " 00:48Z 64 28 6 88 (E) 3632 - " 01:20Z 58 34 17 79 (E) 3550 - " 01:52Z 61 30 14 145 (SE) 3550 - " 02:49Z 62 30 3 220 (SW) 3056 - " 03:21Z 61 31 2 290 (WNW) 3204 - " 03:53Z 61 31 5 266 (W) 3298 - " 04:26Z 60 31 12 188 (S) 3505 - " 04:58Z 58 35 10 146 (SE) 100743 - " 05:30Z 56 36 5 177 (S) 119201 - " 06:02Z 56 34 10 185 (S) 58240 - " 06:35Z 55 37 9 188 (S) 43758 - Patchy cloud 07:07Z 54 39 9 194 (SSW) 34245 - " 07:39Z 54 39 7 183 (S) 27737 - " 08:11Z 52 39 7 230 (SW) 20873 - " 08:44Z 51 39 9 243 (WSW) 16202 - " 09:16Z 53 39 5 263 (W) 12565 - " ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Enclosure on and unventilated all night.
