APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday May 13, 2006 (MJD 53869) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Kaike Pan ET crew: Jian Ge, Scott Fleming ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The first half of tonight was too cloudy. We observed two plates, i.e. 8024 and 8021. At 9:00Z, sky clear up, we observed four plates: 8022, 8027, 8029, 8028 under clear sky. But for last 1.5 plates, seeing was not good, at about 1.8". Intergrated dust-hours was about 37K. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- no problem to report except for clouds. Night: ------ 02:40Z cart 8, plt 8024. Offsets from previous nights got stars. one 50-min exposure started at 02:50Z. Seeing at 1.0" and dust at 2.8-3.6K. Thick clouds blocked most photons that we could not see guiding stars for some cases. due to clouds, exposure was not useful. 03:45Z too clouds for taking data. closed flat field screens. 06:00Z cart 6, plt 8021. Still very cloudy, but we decided to have a try. Maybe data will be useful for brighest stars. Seeing was 1.1, dust at 3.3K. 07:08Z cart 7, plt 8022. A star on GTF. one 50-min exposure. Sky was better than one hour ago. I should be able to acquire useful data now. Seeing was 1.0, dust at 3.2K. 08:03Z ET mid-calibrations 08:20Z cart 2, plt 2027. FK5 was used for stars. one 50-min exposure. photometric sky and 1.1" seeing. Dust at 3.3K. Sky became partially cloudy at 09:00Z. 09:22Z cart 5, plt 2029. Offsets from previous nights gave stars. clouds forming at southeast. one 50-min exposure. Seeing at 1.0", dust at 3.4K. During the exposure, wind change direction, from west to east, seeing degrade to about 1.8". 10:25Z cart 3, plt 2028. stars GTF. one 50-min exposure. Seeing at 1.6", dust at 3.3K. 11:40Z endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 39153, plate -9999 ------- 00:28 39153 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:55Z 8 8024 -50.81 -0.0031 68.77 0.0043 136.60 -0.0079 1.000290 06:13Z 6 8021 79.43 0.0007 71.73 0.0047 248.96 0.0000 1.000200 07:22Z 7 8022 125.01 0.0007 79.37 0.0047 -61.61 0.0000 1.000160 08:29Z 2 8027 123.87 0.0057 65.32 0.0042 -74.15 0.0000 1.000180 09:33Z 5 8029 106.29 0.0057 75.65 0.0042 -83.47 0.0000 1.000060 10:09Z 5 8029 116.03 0.0057 82.85 0.0042 -68.56 0.0000 1.000090 10:34Z 3 8028 179.37 0.0057 77.54 0.0042 -0.88 0.0000 1.000130 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:55Z 8 8024 1.00029 -2864 -1337 -100 -51 68.8 16.8 2 256 --- 1.0 06:12Z 6 8021 1.00020 -1975 -626 -120 80 71.6 15.7 10 302 --- 1.1 07:20Z 7 8022 1.00016 -1580 -298 -110 124 79.1 15.5 6 294 --- 1.0 08:29Z 2 8027 1.00018 -1778 -461 -130 124 65.3 16.2 6 284 --- 1.1 09:33Z 5 8029 1.00006 -593 498 -135 106 75.6 16.4 3 312 --- 1.0 10:34Z 3 8028 1.00013 -1284 38 -20 179 77.5 12.8 12 82 --- 1.7 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:26Z 66 20 5 267 (W) 2692 - cloudy 00:57Z 65 21 9 261 (W) 2751 - cloudy 01:29Z 65 21 5 269 (W) 2898 - cloudy 02:02Z 63 17 1 323 (NW) 2938 - cloudy 02:32Z 62 18 5 268 (W) 2871 - cloudy 03:03Z 62 18 4 260 (W) 3509 - cloudy 03:34Z 61 16 7 203 (SSW) 3436 - cloudy 04:06Z 61 16 5 258 (WSW) 3624 - cloudy 04:38Z 61 17 5 299 (WNW) 4160 - cloudy 05:10Z 59 15 5 356 (NNW) 3369 - cloudy 05:43Z 60 16 4 352 (NNW) 3407 - cloudy 06:16Z 59 15 1 319 (NW) 3314 - cloudy 06:48Z 59 16 5 281 (W) 3413 - mostly clear 07:19Z 60 15 5 284 (WNW) 3249 - clear 07:52Z 60 16 5 290 (WNW) 3370 - clear 08:24Z 61 17 5 288 (WNW) 3322 - clear 08:56Z 61 18 7 311 (NW) 3505 - mostly clear 09:28Z 61 17 3 305 (NW) 3384 - mostly clear 10:00Z 56 14 10 76 (ENE) 3429 - clear 10:32Z 55 12 12 78 (ENE) 3265 - clear 11:04Z 54 16 19 74 (ENE) 2962 - clear 11:37Z 54 18 17 73 (ENE) 3114 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:30Z Doors and louvers opened, fans on 01:55Z Enclosure off. 11:30Z Enclosure on, doors/louvers closed, fans off Telescope at 121,30,00 mount; cart 03 mounted LN2 connected and turned on.
