APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday August 14, 2006 (MJD 53962) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Kaike Pan Night: Steph Snedden Shannon Watters Support: French Leger ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- More shakedown tasks if it stops raining and ... ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds, rain, fog. We are still waiting to do the on-sky shake tasks. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: By 5:00pm, French is still working on problems on reading fiducials. The altitude axis is done, and Azimuth is okay too. More works are still needed on rotator which French is working on. PT camera was warming up again, current is off. So we are told to let it along. Tomorrow Engineering team will cool it down. It looks like there is nothing we can do with PT tonight. But not perfect true yet, we did replace PT minotor in the control room with another in steph's office. The new display works much better. Spectro focus was checked and no adjustment made. The best focus is at about 14 C. Night: We turned the Ne lamps on and watched to see how long it took for them to dim. We didn't see any dimming until about 3 minutes when all but the top left lamp (as seen from the back of the telescope) dimmed. Within another minute the bottom right lamp became purple (probably the Argon). Conclusion: unless there are more subtle changes that we couldn't see by eye in the first two minutes, any changes in line intensities should show up in the first few exposures of the arc sequence we took last night. We changed the sp1 secondary fill cycle to 60 minutes (down from 90 minutes) to see if the sp1 critical error emails stop. We did not get any tonight. Weather prevented doing any on-sky shake tasks. endNight finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6251 22:47Z 23:07Z 100 O 14.09 19.08 47 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 40386, plate -9999 ------- 23:01 40386 0.0 bias 23:08 40387 0.0 bias ----- sequence 40388, plate 2172 ------- 00:49 40388 10.0 flat 00:52 40389 2.0 arc 00:56 40390 2.1 arc hartmann 00:59 40391 2.1 arc "" ----- sequence 40392, plate -9999 ------- 01:12 40392 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:43Z 55 50 9 157 (SSE) 244 - Cloudy 23:15Z 53 50 10 163 (SSE) 292 - ' 23:47Z 53 50 9 162 (SSE) 392 - ' 00:23Z 53 52 0 135 (SE) 533 - ' 00:56Z 53 52 1 178 (S) 588 - ' 02:08Z 54 52 4 182 (S) 543 - ' 02:40Z 53 52 4 118 (ESE) 584 - ' 03:12Z 53 51 8 145 (SE) 580 - ' 06:25Z 52 51 8 171 (S) 468 - ' 06:57Z 52 52 8 177 (S) 304 - ' 07:29Z 52 52 6 181 (S) 504 - ' 08:01Z 53 53 6 269 (W) 108701 - ' 08:34Z 48 47 1 183 (S) 380 - ' 09:06Z 50 49 5 181 (S) 395 - ' 09:38Z 51 51 13 150 (SSE) 307 - ' 10:10Z 51 50 12 151 (SSE) 150 - ' 10:42Z 52 51 1 203 (SSW) 405 - ' 11:14Z 52 52 12 184 (S) 20363 - ' ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened.
