The imaging was done in two runs because ad4 stopped responding 535 frames into a drift. The error was "no response". There were two pieces of metal left on the enclosure rails when we went to open. We assume they were left by construction workers. We had a rotator abort during afternoon checkout. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- Spectrograph focus was set for an expected warmer first half of about 8C. We had an apparent network slowdown that caused slow rsyncs to sos for a little while. Jon didn't see any obvious cause from the network traffic, and it resolved itself after about 15 minutes. The rotator aborted at 48 degrees, going from 0 to 90 degrees during the fiducial crossing check. after a couple of axis inits, the axis cleared and motion was okay. Night: ----- 01:08Z - Cartridge 2, plate 2821 - SEGUEfaint GSOGTF Skies were clear, with seeing around 1.0 asec FWHM in the fibers. 01:35Z - twilight was deep enough to start precal and science. Three exposures totaling 60 minutes *finally* finished this plate. It was declared done. We will replace it with a SEGUE bright plate now that the Moon is a problem. 03:00Z - We switched to SN imaging 03:15Z - 82 N startLambda 111 Run 7080 03:20Z - Focus loop converged by frame 19, lambda 114; skippy in spec from the beginning. 03:24Z Frame 26, lambda 115, start of science. Conditions remained clear, with excellent (subarcsecond) seeing. 05:54Z - a small cloud moved through at about frame 275, lambda 152. Seeing slightly worse, at about 1 asec FWHM, but still very good. 08:10Z - Small clouds coming and going, but they should not affect the data quality too much. 08:31Z - ad4 stopped responding (error message in problems section). We ended the drift and rebooted the astrometrics crate. The last good frame was 535, lambda -168. 08:42Z - 82 N, Run 7081. Started a new drift at startLambda -172. Skippy was good from the start. Focus was good from frame 13. Seeing around 1.2 asec FWHM to start, and skies mostly clear to partly cloudy. 08:49Z - start of science at frame 18, lambda -170 Clouds got progressively thicker during this run. Starting around frame 150, some data could be compromised, but probably most is still good. 11:48Z - end of science at frame 318, lambda -125 11:56Z - end of drift at frame 331, lambda -123 11:57Z -
