APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday November 27, 2007 (MJD 54432) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Elena Malanushenko (day) Dmitry Bizyaev (observer) Dan Oravetz (observer) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- SN Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- The first few hours and last few hours were lost to clouds. Observed 82 N from lambda = -177 to -123 including ramps. The data were collected through cirrus clouds and at times the clouds were thicker. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- All equipment are checked and work properly. Spectro collimation set for ~1.8C. Diskspace is 220G on /data and 130G on /file. Mirrors numbers are marginal, I repeated home and relax of primaries but it did not change the results. Last night the cart 4 were used for spectro check. The fibers and wevelength were on good position. Current cart 9 show the fibers position away from Kaike's canonical position by 2-4 pix, and wavelength position far by 7-16 pix for sp2. We desided do not adjust the spectro params now. Ventilation is started at 23:15Z. Night: ------ 00:20Z - Mounted the imager. 00:26Z - On-telescope bias. Run 7198. 05:40Z - We've had clouds since sunset, but now the sky looks only partly cloudy, so we're going to try to grab a few SN photons while we can. 05:45Z - Enclosure off. Run 7199, 82 N ************** 05:59Z - Started goDrift at lambda = -177. Focus looks good from frame 18. 06:06Z - Started ramp-up at frame 18, lambda = -175. Skippy is happy from the start. We had scattered clouds and it was never photometric throughout the drift. The cloud cam shows that nearly all of the frames were taken through cirrus. From about frame 95, it seemed like the only stars visible through the clouds on the monitors were saturated stars. 09:25Z - Ramp-down starting at frame 352, lambda = -125. 09:33Z - Ended the drift at frame 366, lambda = -123. The DIMM reported seeing less than ~1.2" throughout the drift. 09:40Z - Unmounted imager and mounted cartridge 9. With the moon and the clouds thickening, we're not on sky. We're still open in hopes that the clouds might break. 11:30Z - Clouds have only thickened, so we're calling it. 11:42Z - Enclosure on, doors and louvers closed, fans off. 11:45Z - endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7197 21:34Z 21:55Z 100 O 99.10 104.34 48 ignore 7198 00:25Z 00:44Z 100 O 142.09 146.68 45 bias 7199 05:59Z 09:35Z 82 N -176.67 -122.54 376 science clouds ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7199 7 4 0 0.000 0.000 0.000 0.000 -0.00000 0 0 7199 58 4 50 -5.100 0.166 -10.000 0.154 -0.01538 239 38 7199 111 4 42 -5.000 0.109 -10.300 0.098 -0.01511 239 38 7199 161 4 42 -5.100 0.102 -10.800 0.161 -0.01511 239 38 7199 213 4 39 -5.600 0.124 -11.100 0.165 -0.01526 239 38 7199 264 4 54 -5.900 0.181 -11.400 0.162 -0.01544 239 38 7199 315 4 42 -5.900 0.170 -11.800 0.209 -0.01617 239 38 7199 364 4 56 -5.900 0.147 -11.500 0.164 -0.01531 239 38 ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 47575, plate -9999 ------- 22:06 47575 0.0 bias ----- sequence 47576, plate 2807 ------- 22:15 47576 10.0 flat 22:18 47577 2.0 arc 22:21 47578 3.0 arc Hartmann 22:24 47579 2.0 arc Hartmann ----- sequence 47580, plate -9999 ------- 23:16 47580 0.0 bias 23:34 47581 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 08:04Z imager 1.00000 0 -401 -358 -59 38.5 3.4 16 266 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:08Z 43 -1 12 235 (SW) 188 - clouds 20:40Z 41 6 15 233 (SW) 1045 - clouds 21:12Z 41 14 14 223 (SW) 2760 - clouds 21:44Z 41 14 16 225 (SW) 1094 - clouds 22:17Z 41 21 16 221 (SW) 1399 - clouds 22:48Z 41 20 13 226 (SW) 622 - clouds 23:20Z 40 20 17 234 (SW) 622 - clouds 23:53Z 38 19 8 228 (SW) 585 - clouds 00:25Z 38 21 10 235 (SW) 641 - clouds 01:13Z 39 16 16 225 (SW) 681 - clouds 01:45Z 38 18 15 229 (SW) 1227 - clouds 02:17Z 39 10 16 260 (W) 411 - clouds 02:49Z 38 12 15 244 (WSW) 277 - clouds 03:21Z 37 12 10 253 (WSW) 443 - clouds 03:54Z 37 13 11 259 (W) 268 - clouds 04:30Z 38 15 12 249 (WSW) 167 - clouds 05:02Z 38 14 15 238 (WSW) 192 - clouds 05:34Z 38 13 13 256 (WSW) 213 - partly cloudy 06:06Z 38 9 16 255 (WSW) 201 - partly cloudy 06:38Z 38 11 17 263 (W) 197 - cirrus 07:10Z 37 14 14 268 (W) 225 - cirrus 07:42Z 38 12 17 281 (W) 240 - cirrus 08:14Z 38 12 21 249 (WSW) 231 - cirrus 08:45Z 37 17 20 259 (W) 256 - cirrus 09:17Z 37 18 19 259 (W) 308 - cirrus 09:47Z 37 18 19 272 (W) 319 - mostly cloudy 10:19Z 38 13 16 268 (W) 230 - clouds 10:51Z 38 14 17 269 (W) 262 - clouds 11:24Z 38 15 15 268 (W) 306 - clouds ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 23:15Z - Began ventilation.
