APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday April 24, 2008 (MJD 54581) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Night: Steph Snedden Elena Malanushenko Swing: Kaike Pan ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We had photometric conditions without Moon but high dust 6-7K. We observer two plates: - 2876, it might be done we need to get BY's feedback. - 2903, DONE. We applied integral criteria for dust counts. We obtained 45,000 dust counts. We ask engineering crew to check the mirror. We tried to run imager calibration linearity i3 test, but got error. The reason for the stageX error is that we were using the wrong test.tcl (we had an old one that was pre hand-paddle). We did find the recent version, but by then it was too late to continue the test without running into bright twilight, so we gave it up for the night. Shannon, please meet with Steph to discuss getting the new version checked into the msp CVS product. That should prevent this silly mistake from happening. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ----------- In the evening, the dust count is about 7K. The wind speed was at 25-35 mph. All systems were checked, and working properly. The spectro focus was checked, but no adjustment was made. It still set for 10 C. Night: ------ It is photometric and no Moon evening, but dust level is 6-7K, very high. We decided do not start ventilation in advance and open telescope for observations of high priority plate 2876. T~9.7C, humidity~17, wind~30mph. 02:20 opened and start ventilation. Cart 3, plate 2876 is mounted, segueFaint. The expiration time is 03:03 but we go behind.
