After that, we did a bias as a test. Next, we did a set of manual flats and started another science exposure. About 30 minutes were lost to these problems. SOS could reduce the science exposures because the arc and flat were not done together. So, we contacted Craig via IM to help with the problem. We did five exposure while Craig worked the problem, so any bonus signal resulted because we were flying blind. Craig did fix the problem. And, there are plates marked as "DO NOT OBSERVE" in the database. We also have to check a Wiki page, that was setup by the observers, to determine the status of possible plugging selections. Next, we check the plateDB status of our selections. When moving from status checks to the Plan Plugging site, the load time for that page is about a minute. Consequently, plugging emails that once took a few minutes in SDSS-I and II, now take more than half an hour to complete in SDSS-III. And, the plugging email may require the attention of both observers while we are also driving the telescope, watching the weather, doing QA, and other tasks. All this smacks of a possible waste of time with an observing mistake and/or with the plugging email. This really NEEDS to get fixed; we recommend: a) COMPLETED plates should be automatically removed from the database. b) Plates marked as "DO NOT OBSERVED" should NOT be in the plateDB. c) The status for each plate should also be displayed on the Plan Plugging page. d) The Plan Plugging page should also display the min and max observing times for each plate. e) And, the tolerance that determines plate completion needs to be updated to reflect the recent changes in that value. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame
