ACT-DR6 Posterior Estimation Chains Readme

Validation and documentation for ACT DR6 release chains.

References are to Calabrese & Hill et al 2025 (CH25) "The Atacama Cosmology Telescope: DR6 Constraints on Extended Cosmological Models" and Louis et al 2025 (L25) "The Atacama Cosmology Telescope: DR6 Power Spectra, Likelihoods and LCDM Parameters".

Throughout CH25 and L25 we produce a number of MCMC chains estimating posterior distributions on parameters within a variety of possible cosmological models, given a number of data set combinations.

The chains are all produced using Cobaya and the output files are in the standard format for the cobaya MCMC sampler.

These chains (along with their configuration and progress files) are provided as a series of .tar.gz files (one per chain) which are organised into sub-directories based on the cosmological theory they are testing.

At the bottom of this readme we provide the full list of chains, along with the burn-in fractions which were used to generate plots and summary statistics for the publications, to enable reproduction of these exactly.

Each chain is tagged with an individual name.

Each name comprises of three parts, which are separated by underscore _ characters.

If a chain uses multiple data likelihoods, these are separated with dash - characters within the data tag.

If a chain tests multiple LCDM extension models simultaneously (for instance neutrino mass and effective number relativistic species mnu and neff) then these are separated with dash - characters within the theory tag.

If a theory has multiple sub-classes (for instance the Early Dark Energy potential index n = 2,3) which exist in different chains then the theory tag will have a corresponding sub-tag added, separated by a plus + character.

If a data class has multiple sub-classes (as for the LCDM robustness checks in L25 which use various sub-sets of the ACT-DR6 data) then the data tag will have a corresponding sub-tag added, separated by a plus + character.
