APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday April 9, 2004 (MJD 53105) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dan Long Atsuko Nitta Support: Steph Snedden -- to check on DIMM. ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Poor weather kept us from getting any science done. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Steph came in this afternoon to check on DIMM. Atsuko had a problem connectin to the CCD last night. Apparently, it just needed a reboot by Steph's magical fingers to establish connection (rebooting it last night did not seem to work). Spectro collimation check was done. No changes required. Dan homed transverse (E actuator) on the secondary -- we were seeing messaeg in TCC about it not being able to complete the full step. Homing fixed this. Dan also swapped cable connecting to the paralan on engCam so that we do not have to swp the cables at the paralan in the computer when we go engCam <--> spectro guider. The rainsensor went off before sunset. The clouds, rain, dust and high humidity delayed our opening. 07:20Z We open. Cartridge 7 Plate 1394 ------------------------- We found gStars in fiber using last night's offsets. Clouds moved in because we opened covering up the guide stars before we finished setup. 08:00Z The clouds that are moving in look threatening and very opaque. We decided to close. 10:00Z The radar showed rain close by. So we decided to close the doors and fans. 10:05Z Dan spooted snow flurries. We give up for the night. The weather forcast issued "heavey snow warning" for tomorrow. endNight successfully did what endNight does. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4543 22:35Z 23:04Z 100 O -113.58 -106.17 56 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):y QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 26012, plate -9999 ------- 22:33 26012 0.0 bias 23:05 26013 0.0 bias ----- sequence 26014, plate 1394 ------- 23:17 26014 10.0 flat 23:19 26015 2.0 arc 23:23 26016 2.1 arc 23:25 26017 2.1 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:28Z 49 28 11 257 (WSW) 553 - 23:00Z 48 26 10 250 (WSW) 637 - 23:33Z 45 25 14 266 (W) 566 - 00:05Z 44 26 15 264 (W) 666 - 00:37Z 43 25 21 221 (SW) 746 - 01:09Z 43 26 23 266 (W) 895 - 01:41Z 42 26 25 265 (W) 886 - 02:14Z 42 26 19 276 (W) 899 - 02:46Z 40 31 15 287 (WNW) 6641 - 03:18Z 38 33 10 281 (W) 879 - 03:50Z 37 33 11 329 (NNW) 664 - 04:22Z 38 32 21 311 (NW) 696 - 04:55Z 38 30 12 316 (NW) 674 - 05:27Z 36 31 17 318 (NW) 544 - 05:59Z 37 29 18 322 (NW) 513 - 06:31Z 35 31 9 288 (WNW) 507 - 07:03Z 37 28 8 344 (NNW) 599 - 07:35Z 38 26 14 329 (NNW) 617 - 08:06Z 37 27 14 290 (WNW) 583 - 08:36Z 37 27 15 295 (WNW) 600 - 09:06Z 37 27 14 316 (NW) 476 - 09:36Z 37 26 4 16 (NNE) 502 - 10:06Z 38 24 12 315 (NW) 641 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 07:10Z Fans on and doors open. 07:20Z Enclosure off. 08:00Z Enclosure on. 10:00Z Fans off and doors closed. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_135_0 Watcher: v2_29_0 MCP: v5_25_0 TPM: tpm_v2_41_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: TCC 2.7.2 November 11 2003 sdssProcedures: v1_89 SoS: v4_10_7 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.5400 0.5420 Axial B 0.6430 0.6480 Axial C 1.0920 1.0940 Trans D -8.4430 -8.4380 Lateral E 10.8712 10.8966 Lateral F 10.8458 10.8585 GALILS Commanded: 4600. -2850. 850. -9250. 18400. 17850.
