It was a nice stripe with many pretty galaxies. endNight is still running. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing: The afternoon checkout was mostly uneventful; however, I did need to reboot the migs. Because the imager was mounted, the spectro focus was not checked. Night: Run 4567 on-scope bias in twilight. 03:02Z Slewing to the field. Run 4568 --------- Please ignore. We misread the start time range of this stripe and started at too early a lambda. Run 4569 (24N) --------------- startLambda=-68. In-focus from the beginining. Seeing is good from the beginning. frame 12 skippy ran and reported the rotator and nuErr were in spec. frame 20 lambda=-65.5 ramp start. frame 318 lambda=-21 end of science frame 328 lambda=-19.75 The data were good for the entire run. The seeing was slightly more ratty during the second half (from around frame 150) compared to the first half. Run 4570 (24N) -------------- frame 8 lambda=18.4 Seeing, focus good from the beginning. frame 11 skippy ran and reported rotator and nuErr are in spec. frame 19 lambda=19.4 The wind is starting to shift slighty -- from west wind to southwest wind. The seeing is a bit noisy. Some of the chips are out of spec sometimes. frame 23 lambda=22 start of science . frame ~40 the seeing seems to have become more stable. frame 249 lambda=54.6 The seeing blewup suddenly. SoKent calls data bad from here. frame 289 lambda=60.5 SoKent calls data good again. (no "acceptable" data between the good and bad data) frame 312 lambda=64 end of science frame 332 lambda=67 end of the run. We have about an hour before the moon comes up. So we decided to go back and reobserve the part seeing went poor in the previous run. (24N lambda54.6-->60.5). 09:42Z Going back to lambda 51. Run 4571 (24N) ----------------- frame 9 lambda=51.9 frame 10 skippy ran. Rotator error was slightly larger than previously seen (THETAF = -0.0138 degrees)and nuErr=-8.8". We did cross fiducials when we slewed to this field and we had no too large fiducial errors. Alt=77.5deg, so we are not close to zenith either. Seeing and focus are good from the beginning. After starting the run, we noticed that probably we hsould have gone and took an hour of a new stripe rather than getting the last bad bit of 24N. Oops. frame 27 lambda=54.5 start of where the seeing went bad during the last run. frame 67 lambda=60.6 end of the bad seeing patch from the last run. frame 67-70 Seeing worse (above 1.5" in SoKent). We only have 20min before the moon rise. So we will stay on this strip until moon rise. frame 90 lambda=64. we are at the end of this strip again. Few more min until the moonrise. 10:41Z frame 102 lambda=65.8 moonrise. frame 135 lambda 70.6 end the drift. The seeing is good through this run. The last skippy on this run (frame 68-72) reported nuErr=9.1". Watcher never complained about sky. We harvest Jim's donuts. Run 4572 Donuts ------------------ frame focus 10 -125 (in focus) 14 -425 (-300 out of focus) 18 -175 (+300 out of focus) We closed and started endNight.
