APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday June 22, 2004 (MJD 53179) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Atsuko Nitta (swing) Howard Brewington Scot Kleinman ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Another night, another plate. Bad weather at the start of the night kept us closed. We did attempt to get QE measurements on g1 and g2. Things went well, although I am concerned that the wavelength gauge still read 600nm when we were done; shouldn't it have changed from that initial position? It was also hard to move by hand. Jon, can you take a look at it? Mamoru has been notrified abuot the new data. Finished one merged plate,1114, at the end of the night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon ========== Around the time I did "initNight -tapeRelabel", I got poolNRGangTrim (232: 2004-06-22 23:30:45Z) for photo1 crates. The errors did not return after clearing them. Spectro collimation check carried out at the following temp and required no adjustments. tpm_TM_PMSSAvg 14.07 tpm_TM_TelairAvg.VALA 13.3175 Everything checked out fine. Night ===== Clouds, rain, etc. kept us closed at the start of the night, so we set up the calibrator and started with g-band QE tests. We were at least procedurally successful in obtaining data on g1 and g2. Hopefully, Mamoru (or somebody) can take a look and verify things look OK with the data. It started to clear around 08:30Z, but there remained enough nearby activity that we were forced to remain cautiously closed. Conditions finally stabilized and we opened around 09:10Z to get cart 8, plate 1114 (merged). No GSOTGTF, but an fk5InFiber was easily visible and centered. Finished in three exposures. endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4691 23:32Z 00:09Z 100 O -26.15 -17.11 74 ignore 4692 QE measurements on g1 and g2 4693 08:40Z 08:44Z 100 O 111.08 111.98 20 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 27380, plate -9999 ------- 23:32 27380 0.0 bias ----- sequence 27381, plate 1114 ------- 00:33 27381 2.1 arc 00:35 27382 2.1 arc 00:41 27383 10.0 flat 00:44 27384 2.0 arc all test data ----- sequence 27385, plate -9999 ------- 00:49 27385 0.0 bias 01:23 27386 0.0 bias ----- sequence 27387, plate -9999 ------- 01:32 27387 0.0 bias ----- sequence 27388, plate 1114 ------- 09:35 27388 10.0 flat real data 09:37 27389 2.0 arc 09:56 27390 900.1 target 10:14 27391 900.1 target 10:32 27392 900.1 target DONE ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 09:43Z 8 1114 5.52 -0.0014 57.07 -0.0001 184.54 -0.0198 1.000340 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 09:43Z 8 1114 1.00034 -3356 -1569 50 6 57.1 9.9 4 318 gdr 1.1" 10:27Z 8 1114 1.00034 -3356 -1542 75 -15 56.3 9.8 3 281 gdr 1.3" ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:28Z 61 46 8 265 (W) 415 - 00:01Z 58 46 0 223 (SW) 471 - 00:33Z 58 46 0 301 (WNW) 577 - 01:04Z 50 38 16 41 (NE) 420 - 01:35Z 50 39 2 96 (E) 379 - 02:07Z 51 35 8 346 (NNW) 583 - 02:39Z 50 40 7 352 (NNW) 637 - 03:11Z 49 41 6 288 (WNW) 594 - 03:44Z 48 41 6 10 (N) 934 - 03:52Z 48 40 13 2 (N) 846 - 04:24Z 47 40 11 79 (E) 526 - 04:56Z 46 41 13 66 (ENE) 521 - 05:28Z 47 40 12 60 (ENE) 607 - 06:00Z 48 39 9 80 (E) 832 - 06:33Z 50 37 9 125 (SE) 853 - 07:05Z 50 36 7 115 (ESE) 716 - 07:37Z 51 34 1 289 (WNW) 743 - 08:09Z 47 37 10 56 (NE) 683 - 08:41Z 48 35 12 60 (ENE) 578 - 09:14Z 50 35 0 255 (WSW) 730 - 09:46Z 49 35 4 316 (NW) 675 - 10:18Z 48 36 4 349 (NNW) 696 - 10:49Z 47 35 1 240 (WSW) 648 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Ventilation: 08:00Z opened: ~09:10Z closed: ~10:45Z no interlocks bypassed ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_138_0 Watcher: v2_29_0 MCP: v5_25_0 TPM: tpm_v2_42_0 AstroDa: v14_47 TCC: TCC 2.7.2 November 11 2003 sdssProcedures: v1_90 SoS: v4_10_7 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.4500 0.4450 Axial B 0.6760 0.6770 Axial C 1.1010 1.0980 Trans D -9.5270 -9.5280 Lateral E 10.5918 10.6172 Lateral F 10.6045 10.6172 GALILS Commanded: 5900. -3250. 2600. 7850. 10150. 9750.
