And, we had to makeRunLog for all the science runs again tonight. We tried to process last night's imaging tapes in the photo_robot but could not ssh tapehost@omaha. The tapes were left mounted in the drives. endNight was running as we went to bed. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon Chekcout =============================== To get rid of the poolNRTrim errors in watcher, we did poolInit. Spectro did not need any adjustments. All other systems checked out fine. Night ========= We mounted the imager at sunset and started with 82S as twilight ended. 00:52Z Run 5050: Bias on telescope, T-bars unlatched, 01:20Z Run 5051: Science, 82 S, -startLambda 162 -endLambda -162 with a two-degree ramp on each end of scan. Started this stripe at the wrong lambda though, so we did an endDrift to start again. 01:35Z Run 5052: Science, 82 S, -startLambda 162 -endLambda -162 with a two-degree ramp on each end of scan; see imagingDetails for more information. Seeing as reported by seeingRun was ~1.0" During this run, Watcher reported, "No gang transfer (71: 2004-12-13 02:43:58Z)." We were able to restart the teamster and made sure that a ptvmeTest contained on errors. A short time later, Watcher reported via the Camera Serial Line that, "Server is not responding (Last packet: 2004-12-13 03:24:09Z)." We checked the servers, and they seemed to be okay. And, we noticed that our IOP sessions were runinng very slowly. Because of these problems (no gang transfer), we were unable to get any information from seeingRun. However, we checked with the 3.5-meter control room to monitor seeing conditions. At 03:48Z and frame 224, seeing was still about 1.0" Although Skippy was unable to run later in this scan, the numbers at frame-12 looked very good; see below. THETAF = -0.0009 degrees, -3.27 arcsec CT = 0.39591 arcsec/pixel SCALEF = 16.5966 arcsec/mm AMU0 = 344.8387 degrees ANU0 = 0.0001 degrees NCAT = 15 NSTARS = 10 AZ = 209.0058 degrees EL = 53.6635 degrees raBoreErr: -0.1", decBoreErr: 0.5" azErr: 0.4", elErr: 0.4" muErr: -0.1", nuErr: 0.5" Correct idReport boresight values: xBore = 22.71 mm, yBore = 0.00 mm. After the endDrift, we rebooted the crates and did a test bias or two; see below. 04:42Z Run 5053: goDrift -bias -quick This bias looked atypical because many of the columns were bright red. We ended the drift early. 04:49Z Run 5054: goDrift -bias This bias looked normal. 05:01Z Run 5055: Science, 1300 N, -startMu 95 -endMu 121 with a two-degree ramp on each end of scan. We, unfortunately, started this stripe at the wrong lambda, so we did an endDrift to start again. Sorry. Then, goDrift for Runs 5056 and 5057 failed; see problems section for details and error messages. 05:40Z Run 5058: goDrift -bias. For some reason (probably left over from the goDrift hanging prior to this run), the shutter opened during this bias, so we ended it to start again. Also around this time, we needed to kill and restart the servers. 05:44Z Run 5059: goDrift -bias. All was well and bias looked okay. 05:57Z Run 5060: Science, 1300 N, -startMu 95 -endMu 121 with a two-degree ramp on each end of scan; ; Seeing as reported by seeingRun is ~1.2" and was flat. 08:01Z Run 5061: Science, 22 S, -startLambda -64 -endLambda -01 with a two-degree ramp on each end of scan; see imagingDetails for more information. Seeing as reported by seeingRun was ~1.1" and was flat. 11:53Z During run 5061, we had a ptvme problem and the servers crashed; see problems section for ptvmeTest results. All was well again. We checked using seeingRun and skippy the data from run 5061, and we think it's fine.
