The loadCartridge and gotoField commands worked and guide stars were obtained relatively easily. On-telescope imager bias and flats obtained and standard tests performed. All looked normal. We finished one plate (2091). Clouds and/or high wind kept us closed most of the night. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing: ========== Had no problems with the afternoon checkout. Spectro focus was checked but not adjusted. See Problems Section for focus and coll_motor numbers. Night: ========== We opened shortly after sunset to increasing clouds with the hope of shaking the ET plate before conditions made it impossible. We did just that. Plate 8006 (cartridge 6): The loadCartridge and gotoField commands worked properly. There were no guide stars on the gotoField, however. The previous offsets were cleared and then an FK5 star was obtained using an offset of -10" RA and +2 Dec. This yielded guide stars. The guider ran properly, the scale change was performed and then the guide stars were lost. We closed due to clouds. We mounted the imager and obtained an on-telescope bias and flats. All the files has been copied over on juno computer into directory: /home2/observer/phoenix/data/mnt/photo/optics/53447 Clouds and high wind kept us closed until about 07:30Z. While we were closed, the ET crew made use of the time by working on their instrument. We opened around 07:30 to 30+ mph wind, partly cloudy skies, and horrific seeing. The seeing finally settled down around 08:00Z and we were able to obtain some data. Plate 2091 (cartridge 4): Survey. Guide stars on the gotoField. This plate was finished in 3 exposures (4000 sec total). SoS requested a postCal (which we obtained) and warned of a max sky residual. The wind increased to 35-40 mph while we were observing this plate but we remained open and finished it because this cartridge must be replugged tomorrow with an ET plate. We closed immediately after finishing this plate.
