Strip 82,N imaged from lambda -153 to lambda -34. All of it was imaged in clouds and Moon and is very likely unusable. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ------------ The afternoon checkout and training for Olena went well except we unable to get the mirror numbers for the log by clicking the mirror button or using m4l. The iop session reported a problem with tpm. I checked the tpm display and noticed there were no mirror numbers or dewar weights displayed. Checking with Jon B. and Fritz S., we discovered that tpm2 had not been properly closed. It was rebooted. Misc. Watcher messages are in the Problems Section. Night: ------------ Just as we were ready to go on-sky, we had a major delay. Galileo crashed during a troubleshooting session on dryrot, causing all sorts of problems with local connections (who knew that borrowing a keyboard could create so much havoc?). After two attempts, Galileo rebooted. We ended up doing a telstop/telrun and restarting our iop sessions (this was the easiest way to re-establish clean tcc connections) before we could get back on-sky. During this time we also had an az axis abort, related to the tcc communications interruption. Total delay: 50 minutes. ---------- 02:41Z Run 5754 82 S - startLambda 117 Finally, we were on-sky for Supernova. Focus and Skippy were good from the beginning. Seeing was not as good as last night, but still in the good-to-acceptable range from the beginning until frame 200, lambda 146. Seeing went bad from frame 200, lambda 146 to frame 300, lambda 161. After that, seeing went back to good. Conditions were photometric until frame 340, lambda 167. After that, we had clouds with sky camera sigmas less than or equal to 60. However, from frames 500 to 640, the clouds became thicker, though still with sigmas of 60 or less. After frame 680, patches of thicker cloud moved in. with sigma going as high as 150. This last will need a crowbar to get it through photo reductions. 09:51Z Rick called. We agreed to spool this run with a maxfield of 620 (up to the part we got last night) and he would deal with the remainder of the cloudy part later. 11:00Z Rick called again. sn10 crashed. I rebooted it. At this time, Rick decided to go ahead and spool run 5754 without the logs and without running photo. He will run photo later. He started spool_master.cmd. 10:28Z - Ended drift at lambda -126 deg (RA=59 deg), frame 795 ---------- 10:33Z Run 5755 82N - startLambda -153 The clouds remained thick. I'm certain this run is no good. Skippy and focus in spec from the start, though the nu error started on the high side (-7.3 "). 11:50Z ended drift at lambda -34 deg (RA 51 deg), frame 139 at beginning of twilight. Thick clouds all the way through. I doubt you'll find anthing useful here. 12:53Z - endNight finished.
