Run 6533 113 to -145 Run 6534 -147 to -123 Skies were clear and seeing was good to excellent throughout. At one point 3 CCDS were below .8 arcseconds! (Sorry Robert). The reason for the split into two runs was that id1 hung. Unlike last night, the node was still alive, and all was restored without card swapping, though it did take a power cycle of photo 1. There are some hints that there may be a SCSI communications problem at play. See log and problems section for details. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- The fiducial data taken today was done at 11 C. This is anomalously warm for the time of year, and would likely result in a significant scale difference in the cooler temperatures expected later this run. So it was decided not to implement tables generated from this data and continue with the tables from last run. There were more missing rotator fiducial crossings than last month indicating that maybe more grease has migrated onto some fiducials. Night: ------ 23:50Z Doors Open, Louvers Open, Fans On 00:15Z Doors Closed for imager bias 00:18Z Run 6532: On telescope bias 00:40Z Enclosure Open 01:11Z Run 6533 82 N Lambda 113 to -145 In focus from frame 18. 01:30Z Twilight Frame 39, lambda 113 Skippy, like last night, comes back with all zeros when run automatically. When run by hand from either iop or astrom it returns data. nuErr is higher than usual. Last night is was -8 arcseconds Tonight is more like -10. There are no calibration offsets in place and there were no warnings on fiducial crossing errors being too large. Before the ET run, nuErr was typically within a few arcseconds and during my ET run Thursday, guide stars were found on slew every time. Talking with Mike, he said the pointing was bad (nearly always needing an FK5) starting with Friday's ET run. For both the imager and cartridge pointings, the error is largely in altitude and about .002 degrees, so I suppose the read head might have been bumped sometime during the day Friday with all the work on r1 and/or guider. I guess we'll see with tomorrow's pointing model. 08:20Z id1 died frame 719, lamda -145. A couple reboot attempts only got as far as "Configuring SCSI for Pool Disks, ID 1". Output of "i" and boot sequence before hang in problem section. Shut off power to photo 1 crate and checked SCSI cable connections between ID1 and pool disk. All looked okay although the connector at the disk end isn't mounted to the enclosure. Powered up photo 1 and this time everything came up, including id1. 08:45Z Run 6534 82 N Lambda -147 to -121 Skippy and focus happy from the start.
