The conditions stayed that way all night. Great night of observing for once. Spectra was taken of: Cart 4, segue plate 2714 Cart 9, legacy plate 2238 (finished plate) Cart 5, segue plate 2560 (finished plate) Cart 3, segue plate 2550 We imaged from 03:30Z to 08:18Z. Stripe 1540 N, run 6781 was imaged from mu=171 (frame 21) to mu=188 (frame 149). The stripe was completed. Stripe 205 N, run 6781 had good imaging from mu=207 (frame 22) to mu=222.3 (frame 124). The stripe was not completed due to bad seeing. We were going to try to image strip 10 S, but ran into problems with calcStripeParams (see log for details). Problems: (see problem section for more detail) The primary A mirror latch had a hard time latching onto the imager when it was mounted. The DIMM finderscope light is out. The pressure hansen fitting valve was not able to latch on to the pressure hose for the imager. It had to be held on. See misc watcher errors in problem section. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- The telescope has been checked and prepared for observations. All systems are functioning properly. The collimation is set for 1.5C. 20:47Z there was im critical error which has been checked and it looks loke just a spike in ion_pump_pr signal. 00:55Z - Began ventilation. Doors and louvers open, fans on. Night: ------- Clear and photometric at sunset. Those conditions continued all night. 01:42Z - Opened enclosure. 02:35Z - Cart 4, segue plate 2714 mounted. Guide stars were not found on goToField because it was still twlight. Therefore an fk5 star was used to find the field instead. Three precals were taken. 02:45Z - Took 15 min exposure. Seeing about 1.2". 03:01Z - Took 15 min exposure. 03:19Z - Started postcal. - The SOS reduction does not show sufficent signal to classify the plate as finished. However, the Princeton reduction will most likely show the plate has been completed. Results will turn up shortly. 03:30Z - Mounted imager. - We were going to scan stripe 10 S but calcStripeParams was calculating it at 52 degrees below the horizon. We skipped this stripe and moved on but it turns out that 10 is the equatorial stripe so mu is the same as RA. We should have converted mu into lambda (lambda = RA - 185). With that conversion the results of calcStripeParams looked fine. 04:17Z - Started imaging run 6781 for stripe 1540 N. Seeing about 1.2". Skippy is happy at frame 10 and focus is happy at frame 20. Ramp started at mu=171, frame 21. Science started at mu=173, frame 35. 05:28Z - Science ended at mu=188, frame 135. 05:36Z - Ramp ended at mu=190, frame 149. 05:42Z - Started imaging run 6782 for stripe 205 N. Seeing began at about 1.2". Skippy is happy at frame 12 and the focus is good from frame 15. Ramp started at mu=207, frame 22. Science started at mu=209, frame 35. - Seeing started getting bad around frame 125, but started show some improvement around frames 150 to 180. However, the seeing jumped up to 1.8-1.9" after that. We decided to end the run and declare frames 125-200 bad. - Run good until mu=222.3, frame 124. 07:39Z - Started 30 frame imager bias (frames 8-38). 08:21Z - Exchanged imager for cart 9, legacy plate 2238 on telescope. GSFOGTF. 08:31Z - Started precals. Seeing improved and now is 1.0". 08:37Z - Took 15 min exposure. Seeing worsened to 1.5", but is variable. 09:00Z - Took 10 min exposure. Finished plate. 09:16Z - Cart 5, segue plate 2560 mounted. GSFOGTF. Started precals. 09:17Z - Started 10 min exposure. 09:34Z - Took postcal. Plate is finished. 09:49Z - Mounted Cart 3, segue plate 2550. GSFOGTF. Precals taken. 09:59Z - First exposure: 15 min. Seeing 1.9". 10:16Z - Second exposure: 25 min. 10:44Z - Third exposure: 20 min. 11:19Z - Fourth exposure: 20 min. 11:29Z - Took postcal.
