We had problems with the malnipulator arm again. Declared plate 1786 done. Added signal to plates: 2848, 2824, and 2868. Did dithered flats during a period of bad seeing. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- I have problem with spectro collimation. Current spectro T was -2C and expected T is -5C. The move of spectro collimation motor "b1" for sp1 is failed. I tried to do several attamptions. The error message is in problem section. I return spectro motors back to their initial position where spectro set for -3C. All other equipment are checked and work properly. Ventilation is started at 23:20Z. Cart 2 is mounted. Night: ------ 23:54Z Sunset 00:15Z Pulled enclosure, topped off the spectro secondary dewars, changed the 180-L spectro dewar, checked the top/bottom balance, did a test slew, and started the DIMM. 00:55Z Cart 02, plate 2848 (segue169). Field was found on goToField in twilight. Seeing was about 2.5" as reported by the DIMM. While Kaike did a guider-focus sweep, we got an error that "The last guider frame did not arrive." This problem caused the sweep to halt, but we restarted it without additional problems. 01:27Z Twilight ended. 01:43Z With cart 02 as the night progressed, we noticed that the guider FWHM was about 1.7" as reported by the saoDisplay. At that time, however, the DIMM reported seeing at 0.8" In the past, the difference between the two was closer to 0.5" We suspect this result could come from the need of an final collimation tweak of the 2.5-meter. Our altitude at the time of this observation was ~39-degrees. We will continure to mointor the seeing difference on the next plate. Field was found on goToField. Seeing is about 1.3" as reported by the DIMM The malnipulator arm would not move in an upward motion duing this cartridge change. We had to turned off the logic controller board, and left the board turned off. On this cartridge, we noticed that the seeing reported by the DIMM was much closer to the FWHM of the guiderGUI. The difference was only about 0.3" Our altitude was 67 degrees. An exposure was never started since the seeing was so poor. 06:07Z Watcher complained about the vt+ voltage of CCD 15. 06:26Z Since the seeing was so poor, we remounted cart 05 to do the dithered flats, i.e., specFlats 15 Flats are exposures 47906 to 47920 Arcs are exposures 47921 to 47922 The seeing, of course, improved about two-thirds of the way through these flats. Yet, we continued since only low priority plates were available at this time. 07:45Z Cart 04, plate 1786 (chunk93). Field was found on goToField. Seeing had improved to about 1.0" as reported by DIMM. 08:15Z With Cart 04, seeing deteriorated to about 2.0" and was variable.
