APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday January 19, 2008 (MJD 54485) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Viktor Malanushenko (day) Dan Oravetz (observer) Dmitry Bizyaev (observer) Audrey Simmons (lightbulb change crew) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- It was a clear night with perfect seeing and almost full Moon. FF lightnulb got out of order in the middle of the night and was successfully replaced. We finished one plate (cart. 6 plate 2648) and added signal on: cart. 2 plate 2851, cart. 4 plate 2890, cart. 8 plate 2858, cart. 5 plate 2647. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- All equipment checked and working properly. Spectro collimation is set for -4.0C for spectro. See the 'problems' section. Bias level on the left side of CCD33 is off again. 23:30Z - Began ventilation. Doors and louvers opened, fans on. Cartridge 2 is mounted. Night: ------ 00:35Z opened enclosure 01:04 Cartridge 2 plate 2851 segue bright plate fk5 star is not found. Cleared offsets, tried again 01:06 fk5 star found focus loop, pre-cal 01:36Z science 1200 01:58Z science 1200 02:21Z science 1200 02:44Z science 900 postcal Cartridge 4 plate 2890 segue bright CArt 4 found uncovered, the cover was found inside the lab and put on 03:15Z GSOGTF 03:25Z precal - FAILED - only 3 lamps came on. Tried couple more times. The FF lamp #2 is off all the time. We decided to replace the FF lightbulb. Now is a question how many astronomers does it take to replace a lightbulb? Tonight's answer is 3. The lamp remover, site key holder, lamp bringer, ladder holder, lighting provider etc. functions were shared and the replacement went smooth. We lost some 48 min due to this problem (from getting errors to starting new good precal) since that was the most inconvenient side for the lamp change. 04:18Z precal 04:25Z science 1200 04:48Z science 1200 05:11Z science 1200 05:34Z science 1200 06:19Z science 1200 06:42Z science 1200 07:05Z midcal 07:12Z science 1200 07:35Z science 1200 07:58Z science 1200 postcal 08:31Z cartridge 8 plate 2858 segue bright mounted fk5 used 08:48Z precal 08:55Z science 1200 09:18Z science 1200 09:40Z science 1200 10:03Z science 1200 10:26 postcal 10:45Z cartridge 6 plate 2648 is on (chunk) GSOGTF 10:52Z precal 10:59Z science 1500 11:27Z science 1500 12:00Z science 1500-->1800 Cartridge 5 plate 2647 mounted (chunk) GSOGTF precal 12:44Z science 900 13:05Z dome closed 13:15Z endNight rejoiced ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7293 21:33Z 21:57Z 100 O 150.98 157.06 55 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 49181, plate -9999 ------- 21:28 49181 0.0 bias ----- sequence 49182, plate 2851 ------- 21:58 49182 10.0 flat ----- sequence 49182, plate 2851 ------- 22:01 49183 2.0 arc ----- sequence 49184, plate -9999 ------- 22:06 49184 0.0 bias ----- sequence 49185, plate 2851 ------- 22:12 49185 3.0 arc 22:15 49186 3.0 arc 23:10 49187 3.0 arc 23:12 49188 3.0 arc ----- sequence 49189, plate -9999 ------- 23:56 49189 0.0 bias 00:01 49190 0.0 bias ----- sequence 49191, plate 2851 ------- 01:30 49191 10.0 flat 01:33 49192 2.0 arc 01:57 49193 1200.0 target 02:20 49194 1200.0 target 02:43 49195 1200.0 target 03:01 49196 900.0 target 03:04 49197 10.0 flat 03:07 49198 2.0 arc ----- sequence 49199, plate 2890 ------- 04:20 49199 10.0 flat 04:23 49200 2.0 arc 04:47 49201 1200.0 target 05:10 49202 1201.0 target 05:33 49203 1200.0 target 05:55 49204 1201.0 target 06:41 49205 1200.0 target 07:04 49206 1200.0 target 07:07 49207 10.0 flat 07:09 49208 2.0 arc 07:34 49209 1201.0 target 07:57 49210 1201.0 target 08:20 49211 1201.0 target 08:23 49212 10.0 flat 08:25 49213 2.0 arc ----- sequence 49214, plate 2858 ------- 08:48 49214 10.0 flat 08:51 49215 2.0 arc 09:16 49216 1201.0 target 09:39 49217 1200.0 target 10:02 49218 1201.0 target 10:25 49219 1201.0 target 10:29 49220 10.0 flat 10:31 49221 2.0 arc ----- sequence 49222, plate 2648 ------- 10:54 49222 10.0 flat 10:57 49223 2.0 arc 11:26 49224 1501.0 target 11:54 49225 1501.0 target 12:27 49226 1803.0 target ----- sequence 49227, plate 2647 ------- 12:39 49227 10.0 flat 12:42 49228 2.0 arc 13:00 49229 901.0 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:37Z 2 2851 -13.43 0.0024 56.53 0.0018 168.75 0.0279 0.999860 04:31Z 4 2890 73.87 0.0050 55.44 0.0022 238.30 0.0311 1.000070 08:58Z 8 2858 164.48 0.0065 52.99 0.0016 -34.98 -0.0014 0.999840 10:59Z 6 2648 51.13 0.0101 74.55 0.0017 225.06 0.0345 1.000040 12:46Z 5 2647 -59.05 0.0103 72.03 0.0013 128.70 0.0223 1.000010 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01:37Z 2 2851 0.99986 1383 2506 200 -13 56.5 -3.1 14 14 -- 1.2" 04:31Z 4 2890 1.00007 -691 743 150 74 55.4 -2.6 17 24 -- 1.5" 08:58Z 8 2858 0.99984 1580 2629 150 164 53.0 -2.8 8 274 -- 1.2" 10:59Z 6 2648 1.00004 -395 947 150 51 74.5 -3.4 9 268 -- 1.2" 12:46Z 5 2647 1.00001 -99 1166 120 -59 72.1 -4.1 4 201 -- 1.0" ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:33Z 26 -19 15 349 (NNW) 319 - We replaced it and put the bad lamp on the table in the middle of engineering trailer. Not a problem, just a notice: flickering of a stop button at the western part of 2.5m telescope's fense was not noticed this night. Tonight was much warmer than the last night, by the way.
