APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday January 16, 2002 (MJD 52291) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Pete Newman Night: Mike Harvanek, Jurek Krzesinski ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! Spectroscopy. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We were open all night, but got nothing due to the clouds. Like last night, the satelite map showed that we might open at any time, but we never saw enough room between clouds to get some photons. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- It has been noticed during afternoon check-out for the last two days that the first set of biases taken with the spectrographs show hot pixel streaks in the upper-right quadrant of camera r1, columns 680 and 714 (from saoDisp), which then do not appear on a second bias. Clearly, some charge accumulation is going on during the day. Should this be considered a problem? If the biases are being collected for a bias library, we should take at least three per night to be able to reject the first. 00:19 Telescope opened, cart 1 plt 802 mounted and we are ready to go. Clouds apeared half an hour later - waiting. 04:00 Shall we close and do some linearity measurements? Mike says: "no we'll wait open; if it clears up we will need to be ready". There must be some clouds forming above us, since we don't see thick clouds on the satelite map -bummer! 11:15 We saw some sucker holes in clouds at the end of the night but they are gone as quickly as they showed up. So, we decided to call it a night. 11:55 Telescope closed, cart 1 plt 802 left mounted. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Stripe Flavor Lambda Last Begin End Frame Comments ------------------------------------------------------------------ 2891 100 O ignore 157.49 160.72 36 ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot --------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 12691, plate -9999 ------- 22:14 12691 0.0 bias 22:20 12692 0.0 bias ----- sequence 12693, plate -9999 ------- 00:13 12693 0.0 bias 00:19 12694 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument getclock Az Alt Rot Scale ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: none Stays: none ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 14:32 36 7 17 221 (SW) 140 - 15:04 40 7 15 257 (WSW) 154 - 17:41 35 7 22 223 (SW) 482 - 18:13 35 10 20 217 (SW) 931 - 18:46 36 11 15 216 (SW) 1018 - 19:16 35 13 17 215 (SW) 1781 - 19:46 35 12 18 232 (SW) 1762 - 20:16 36 12 21 211 (SSW) 1478 - 20:49 36 12 18 240 (WSW) 1720 - 21:21 36 12 13 246 (WSW) 1697 - 21:53 36 12 18 265 (W) 1068 - 22:26 35 12 14 263 (W) 999 - 22:58 35 12 15 266 (W) 526 - 23:30 34 13 18 248 (WSW) 404 - 00:02 34 14 18 264 (W) 240 - 00:35 34 14 16 261 (W) 344 - 01:07 33 14 17 260 (W) 344 - 01:39 33 15 18 245 (WSW) 258 - 02:11 33 15 17 247 (WSW) 257 - 02:43 32 15 21 261 (W) 221 - 03:16 33 14 24 261 (W) 224 - 03:48 32 15 22 258 (WSW) 186 - 04:20 32 15 20 269 (W) 218 - 04:51 31 16 22 260 (W) 221 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:19 telescope opened, dewars refilled, fans on. 11:55 telescope closed, fans off, hoses hooked up. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v3_64_3c Watcher: v2_13_2a MCP: v5_8_7 TPM: v2_4_5 AstroDa: v14_40 TCC: 2.5.5 sdssProcedures: v1_37 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A 0.0750 0.0750 Axial B 0.8030 0.8020 Axial C 0.0740 0.0710 Trans D -1.4930 -1.4860 Lateral E 1.8300 1.8540 Lateral F 1.4120 1.4240 GALILS Commanded: 5400. -3700. 900. -200. 31550. 30650.
