APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday February 6, 2005 (MJD 53408) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Night: John Barentine, Pete Newman Pre-dawn snow clearance: Steve Bastien ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Weather. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- A good foot of snow on the ground, more falling, fog, ice on all the buildings: no operations. The enclosures do not show much ingress of snow. We checked dessicant cans - all look dry. We've had many utility power glitches all day, both short offs and short brown-outs. The instrument servers died sometime during the day. After Pete misinterpreted the results of a ptvmeTest he rebooted the crates anyway, all came back ok and the instrument check-outs completed succesfully. However, later, watcher dropped its server connection again (noted around 09:35Z), with the main server window reporting "waiting for command respnse from ad4..." every 6 seconds or so. Maybe this is related to Pete forgetting to complete the answers to the earlier endDrift? Once that was done, the im server was able to check the camera, but the main server continued to report "waiting on ad4" errors. He rebooted the astrometrics DA crate again and restarted the servers once more. Watcher reported some errors not seen in a long time (while the telescope was parked in the enclosure): AxisDTime:alt (1.9: 2005-02-07 03:41:17Z) AxisDTime:az (1.9: 2005-02-07 03:41:17Z) AxisDTime:rot (1.9: 2005-02-07 03:41:17Z) Per Russell's request in TCC folklore: axis status 0 5 W AzStat=121.000199, 0.000000, 4614465579.27594, 0x00003800; BadAzStatus; AzDTime=2.0; BadAzDTime 0 5 W AltStat=30.392270, 0.000000, 4614465579.35717, 0x40003800; BadAltStatus; AltDTime=1.9; BadAltDTime 0 5 W RotStat=45.000256, 0.000000, 4614465579.51738, 0x00003800; BadRotStatus; RotDTime=1.9; BadRotDTime; RotID=1, 0 0 5 : Cmd="axis status" SET TIME 0 5 : Cmd="SET TIME" axis status 0 5 W AzStat=121.000199, 0.000000, 4614465638.35907, 0x00003800; BadAzStatus; AzDTime=1.9; BadAzDTime 0 5 W AltStat=30.392270, 0.000000, 4614465638.47750, 0x40003800; BadAltStatus; AltDTime=1.9; BadAltDTime 0 5 W RotStat=45.000256, 0.000000, 4614465638.63850, 0x00003800; BadRotStatus; RotDTime=1.9; BadRotDTime; RotID=1, 0 0 5 : Cmd="axis status" AXIS INIT 0 0 I Modu="axe_o_Init"; Text="locking ports: Az , Alt, Rot" 0 0 I Modu="axe_o_Init"; Text="initializing: Az , Alt, Rot" 0 0 I Modu="axe_o_Init"; Text="setting time of: Az , Alt, Rot" 0 0 I Modu="axe_o_Init"; Text="sending init files (if they exist) to: Az , Alt, Rot" 0 0 W AzStat=121.000444, 0.000000, 4614465657.61571, 0x00003800; BadAzStatus; AzDTime=-0.1 0 0 W AltStat=30.394319, 0.000000, 4614465657.83788, 0x40003000; BadAltStatus; AltDTime=-0.1 0 0 W RotStat=45.000256, 0.000000, 4614465658.15777, 0x00003800; BadRotStatus; RotDTime=-0.1; RotID=1, 0 0 0 W Modu="axe_i_Init"; Text="status is bad for: Az , Alt, Rot" 0 0 I AxisInit="FFF" 0 5 F Failed; Cmd="AXIS INIT" (stops are in!) axis status 0 5 W AzStat=121.000374, 0.000000, 4614465716.93267, 0x00003800; BadAzStatus; AzDTime=-0.1 0 5 W AltStat=30.394560, 0.000000, 4614465717.03829, 0x40003800; BadAltStatus; AltDTime=-0.1 0 5 W RotStat=45.000256, 0.000000, 4614465717.19797, 0x00003800; BadRotStatus; RotDTime=-0.1; RotID=1, 0 0 5 : Cmd="axis status" The AxisDTime errors did not recur.
