APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday July 13, 2005 (MJD 53565) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Dan Long ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- It was a better night than we had reason to expect given the forecast and the rainy afternoon weather. Nearby rain at sunset led us to take the first couple hours of the night to finish the u6 u-leak imager calibrations. Skies were generally cloud free for much of the night, though there was enough structure in the cloud camera images to keep it from being photometric for any significant time (sdev 6 - 11). East winds made for decent but variable seeing. These conditions allowed us to finish 3 plates 2255, 2259, and 2252, two of which already had some signal. This leaves us with only one plate with signal (6 2202). With some luck we might just finish the run tomorrow with no partially done plates. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- 01:15Z Fans On 02:05Z Doors Open 02:35Z Doors Closed Weather iffy at sunset. Decided to take u-leak data on u6. The two hours this should take will get us past the zone of avoidance on the higher priority bright segue plate, so if the weather improves we can still get this plate after the imager calibration sequence. Steph's Imager Calib Notes: -------------------------------------------------------------- This is the remainder of the uLeak QE measurements for u6. They will have to be combined with the data taken last night for the full analysis. We did not do any analysis because we switched immediately to spectroscopy once the uLeak script ended.
