APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday March 8, 2006 (MJD 53803) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Jian Ge and The ET team French Leger Jim Gunn ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET setup and testing ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- ET optics assembly underway. Poor weather all night. Jim Gunn is on-site for imager repairs. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- No afternoon checkout. The ET crew is busy assembling optics, and this is likely to continue through the night. Note: I declared iop v4_19_0 current for the ET run. This is the version that should be used for ET. The plugMap files for the ET plates were copied from plate-mapper to sdsshost2. Since these plates are not run through the normal mapping procedures, they have each been assigned to a particular cartridge. If the plate/cartridge sequence ever is changed, the plugMapM file will have to be hand-edited. Here are the assignations: Plate Cartridge ----- --------- 8016 1 8017 2 8018 3 8019 4 8020 5 8021 6 8022 7 8023 8 Cartridges 1 and 4 that had partial signal from the dark run had to be unplugged to accommodate the ET needs. Bummer. 06:39Z - Jim Gunn arrived to work on our ailing imager. Early today it stopped communicating with the outside world. French has been keeping it cold all day, turning it on long enough to force primary and secondary fills. Work continued on ET setup into second half. The weather never cooperated tonight. We had clouds, dust high winds and the high humidity. 10:11Z Gave up for the night. endNight finished quickly. It only had one spectro bias and some cloudcam images to chew on. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 37995, plate -9999 ------- 02:18 37995 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 01:53Z 25 4 33 275 (W) 5357 - 02:26Z 24 7 26 279 (W) 14949 - 03:02Z 23 10 24 283 (WNW) 6335 - 03:34Z 22 12 15 288 (WNW) 7417 - 04:04Z 21 14 19 290 (WNW) 6811 - 04:37Z 21 15 15 268 (W) 3837 - 05:09Z 20 17 13 315 (NW) 3902 - 05:41Z 20 18 21 300 (WNW) 1597 - 06:13Z 20 17 17 297 (WNW) 1022 - 06:46Z 19 18 18 281 (W) 1384 - 07:18Z 19 18 13 307 (NW) 1152 - 07:50Z 19 18 12 299 (WNW) 1824 - 08:22Z 19 17 12 296 (WNW) 941 - 08:55Z 19 17 17 302 (WNW) 486 - 09:27Z 19 17 6 304 (NW) 376 - 09:59Z 19 16 17 294 (WNW) 392 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened.
