APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday March 14, 2006 (MJD 53809) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Night: Dan Long ET Team: Jian Ge Julian VanEykon Curtis Dewitt ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- A combination of New Mexico springtime weather problems (dust, wind, clouds - note lack of aqueous precipitation on the list) kept us closed tonight. A spontaneous imager reboot happened early this evening, thankfully followed by an equally spontaneous recovery. Hopefully this is just the usual reboot which seems to follow a couple of days after the imager is restarted. The ET crew continued working on the focus of their instrument. Note: The gas bottle for the imager fill system is below 500 PSI but holding steady at about 300. It should probably be changed soon. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- 00:30Z Doors Open, Fans On 01:00Z Clouds are thick enough to prevent observing, so we remain closed. 01:35Z Imager rebooted itself Did iack and setImagerAmpsOn and took a bias. All looked OK. 03:00Z Clouds thinning some, but with the nearly full moon, targets would be swamped. 04:00Z The ET crew has been continuing to work on the focus of their instrument. However their Thorium Argon lamp just died. After some rummaging around, we located an arc lamp power supply in the spectrograph cabinet and an assortment of bulbs from the 3.5m was offered up by Russet. 05:30Z Doors Closed, Fans Off - Dust which has been slowly rising all night is closing in on 3000. 06:00Z Of course now that the dust is high, the skies become nearly clear. 09:00Z Clouds thicken again. Dust remains high. 11:30Z High dust, thick clouds, and the occasional wind gust over the limit all conspire to get us to give up for the night. 11:50Z endNight finished quickly and happily. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6054 01:45Z 02:15Z 100 O -91.88 -84.39 35 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38003, plate -9999 ------- 00:08 38003 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:29Z 48 4 15 197 (SSW) 685 - Cirrus 23:01Z 46 4 15 209 (SSW) 885 - Cirrus 23:33Z 45 5 12 199 (SSW) 883 - Cirrus 00:05Z 45 7 7 190 (S) 1044 - Cirrus 00:37Z 39 5 16 137 (SE) 1129 - Thick Cirrus 01:09Z 37 5 15 139 (SE) 1164 - Thick Cirrus 01:39Z 37 5 14 159 (SSE) 1350 - Thick Cirrus 02:09Z 38 6 18 176 (S) 1442 - Thick Cirrus 02:40Z 38 5 22 151 (SSE) 1612 - Cirrus 03:12Z 39 5 15 178 (S) 1619 - Cirrus 03:44Z 39 5 20 174 (S) 1840 - Cirrus 04:16Z 40 2 20 177 (S) 2051 - Thick Cirrus 04:49Z 41 3 20 177 (S) 2296 - Thick Cirrus 05:21Z 38 2 22 153 (SSE) 2530 - Cirrus 05:53Z 39 5 18 176 (S) 2878 - Mostly Clear 06:25Z 40 7 18 191 (S) 3102 - Mostly Clear 06:57Z 40 8 18 188 (S) 3385 - Clear 07:30Z 40 9 22 182 (S) 3617 - Cirrus 08:02Z 40 9 25 188 (S) 3624 - Cirrus 08:34Z 40 10 24 194 (SSW) 3770 - Cirrus 09:06Z 41 10 25 200 (SSW) 3848 - Mostly Cloudy 09:39Z 43 11 26 196 (SSW) 3685 - Cloudy 10:11Z 41 10 30 180 (S) 4019 - Mostly Cloudy 10:43Z 40 10 16 208 (SSW) 3778 - Thick Cirrus 11:15Z 39 10 26 199 (SSW) 3809 - Mostly Cloudy 11:48Z 40 10 23 211 (SSW) 3795 - Mostly Cloudy ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:30Z Doors Open, Fans On, Louvers Open 05:30Z Enclosure Closed, Louvers Closed, Fans Off.
