APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Wednesday June 7, 2006 (MJD 53894) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Mike Harvanek Roger Cohen (ET) Jian Ge (ET) Jackie Diehl (cookie baking visitor) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET science. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Observed 4 ET plates. Estimated total integrated dust counts is approximately 14400. xxx ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- No problems during checkout. Threatening clouds delayed opening. We finally opened around 05:40Z. 06:06Z Plate 8022 (cartridge 7): ET. Guide stars on the gotoField. However, the guide stars were lost after making a large (0.038) scale change and an FK5 was needed to acquire the field again. One 50 minute exposure was obtained but clouds came in about halfway through so it may not be very good. Switched to plate 8027 (cartridge 5) and a calibration was done while still at instChange. 07:47Z Plate 8027 (cartridge 5): ET. Guide stars on the gotoField. One 50 minute exposure was obtained. 09:00Z Plate 8028 (cartridge 3): ET. Guide stars on the gotoField. One 50 minute exposure was obtained. 10:05Z Plate 8029 (cartridge 1): ET. Guide stars on the gotoField. One 50 minute exposure was obtained. Calibration done while the telescope was being stowed. Dust counts were below 2K for most of the night. Estimated total integrated dust counts is approximately 14400. endNight finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): YES QA Procedures Done (y/n): N/A UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 39646, plate -9999 ------- 02:11 39646 0.0 bias 02:31 39647 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:27Z 7 8022 179.71 0.0064 84.36 0.0043 -0.45 0.0698 1.000380 08:02Z 5 8027 144.98 -0.0006 76.43 0.0037 -41.79 0.0196 1.000200 09:11Z 3 8028 191.31 -0.0022 77.25 0.0022 13.40 0.0230 1.000180 10:18Z 1 8029 254.30 -0.0078 74.11 0.0019 84.87 0.0119 1.000150 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:28Z 7 8022 1.00038 -3753 -2041 -50 180 84.4 15.1 26 115 ---- 1.1" 08:02Z 5 8027 1.00020 -1975 -513 0 145 76.5 14.1 27 156 ---- 1.8" 09:11Z 3 8028 1.00018 -1778 -350 0 191 77.2 13.3 18 135 ---- 1.4" 10:18Z 1 8029 1.00015 -1481 -151 -50 254 74.1 13.5 20 152 ---- 1.0" ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:41Z 64 34 13 123 (ESE) 1132 - 01:14Z 64 35 8 137 (SE) 1195 - 01:46Z 62 33 13 118 (ESE) 1155 - mostly cloudy 02:18Z 62 33 14 110 (ESE) 1349 - mostly cloudy 02:52Z 62 33 18 120 (ESE) 1232 - mostly cloudy 03:24Z 62 33 19 111 (ESE) 1200 - mostly cloudy 03:56Z 61 32 18 113 (ESE) 1224 - mostly cloudy 04:28Z 61 32 22 126 (SE) 1234 - partly cloudy 05:00Z 61 33 15 112 (ESE) 1337 - partly cloudy 05:33Z 60 36 18 119 (ESE) 1524 - partly cloudy 06:05Z 59 37 21 118 (ESE) 1534 - partly cloudy 06:37Z 59 38 28 123 (ESE) 1600 - partly cloudy 07:09Z 58 38 21 114 (ESE) 1481 - mostly cloudy 07:42Z 58 39 22 133 (SE) 1604 - partly cloudy 08:14Z 57 39 30 134 (SE) 1534 - partly cloudy 08:46Z 56 40 17 141 (SE) 1720 - partly cloudy 09:16Z 55 40 22 137 (SE) 1962 - clear 09:47Z 56 40 23 135 (SE) 2134 - clear 10:18Z 56 40 21 150 (SSE) 1922 - clear 10:50Z 56 40 20 141 (SE) 1919 - clear 11:22Z 55 40 21 151 (SSE) 1953 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 02:45Z Enclosure doors opened, fans and blowers on, louvers opened. 05:40Z Enclosure off. 11:05Z Enclosure on, doors closed, fans and blowers off, louvers closed.
