Problems: Spectro autorefill is not working. Autorefill started when spectrographs didn't need refilling and did not stopped. Fortunately error message got my attention and I stopped refill afterr it ventilated ~100 pounds of nitrogen. French was notified. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Monthly spectro checkout and science: ------------------------------------- Clouds and rain in the valley in the evening, but it started to be clear by the middle of the night. The new fiducial tables have been obtained. Alt and Rot tables are good, and they are checked in by Steph. In some part of az table there are only couples of pixels with large errors. We decided do not use new az table for now. We plan to reboot MCP tomorrow before pointing measurements and continue to observe SN with current table tonight. 0:30 Afternoon check out has been done. All systems work fine. Cartridge 1 plate 180 is mounted. Spectro monthly checkout have been done. 1. Homed and relaxed primary and homed secondary. 2. Obtained three Dark Frames with black foam and diffuser sheet. The quality is going to be checked tomorrow. 3. Selected optimal position of fiber positions. We could not set each parameters to its best values as motors need be moved to opposite directions. We selected some compromised position. 4. Wavelength positions of the spectra have been adjusted to better quality. 5. The focus of the spectrograph collimation mirrors is adjusted. The series of dithered spectroscopic flats had been taken during shakeup time, so we skipped them now. We need to do Bias Frames next time because it is the time to switch for SN imaging. Night: ------ SN 07:05Z imager mounted on the telescope and checked for sanity after it was used for MSP calibration work. 07:20Z Run 6330, stripe 82 S. Beginning of the ramp at frame 19 lambda 177. Skippy is happy, seeing good, but seeingRun calls it bad for some reason. Sky is photometric at the moment. 09:00Z Seeing got worse and the humidity started to rise. 09:34Z endDrift: frame 199, lambda -156 end of the ramp. 09:21Z Humidity tooooo high - emergency closing! 09:35Z Run 6330 - bias with the imager on the telescope. 10:25Z Secondary Dewar Pressure (FAULT!!! : 2006-09-12 10:21:16Z) Autofill failed! It ventilated out ~100 pounds of nitrogen and I had to stop it manualy (but it started to refill on it's own, however I doubt, that at that time spectrographs need nitrogen). 11:15Z endNight rejoyced. 11:59Z sp2 started to warm up.
