APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday May 6, 2007 (MJD 54227) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Viktor Malanushenko (Days) Dan Oravetz Steph Snedden Elena Malanushenko ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown - night 2 ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Obtained 72-point pointing model, with acceptable RMS error in spite of a blowup in seeing midway through the data collection. Two plates observed in variable clouds and Moon. Obtained useable signal, but could not declare them done. -- monitor 'astrometric #4' does'nt work properly, Fritz, please change it. The imager dewar will need changing by mid-morning. Thanks. endNight failed to copy the cloudcam images for DanO. See the log body. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- 23:00Z reboot servers, telescope's laptop, runnin test versions iop & watcher 00:46Z Began ventillations, doors, louvers open, fans on. Night: ----- We opened at sunset to clear skies for the standard 72 point pointing model. Seeing was good for the first half and gooey (about 3 asec FWHM) for the second half, resulting in a little higher RMS error. We had poor seeing and clouds plus Moon, which hampered our efficiency, but still got useful signal. Unfortunately, we didn't get enough signal to declare the plate done. 08:42Z - Cartridge 8 - plate 2172 - Legacy chunk 112 GSOGTF Clouds started to clear out - a good thing, since we were near enough to the Moon for scattered light to be a problem. Useable signal obtained, but Moon kept us from declaring this plate done. IOP v4_33_0 and watcher v2_36_0 were declared current. endNight failed to copy the cloudcam images. It's an ssh problem again, between irsc and the new landru. Continue? When I tried to copy them manually, I got: 5:27 sdsshost2.apo.nmsu.edu % scp observer@irsc:/data/home/irsc/data/54227/*.fit . scp: No match. Although, you can scp one file at a time... the above errors are probably an obvious problem but at this hour, I don't see it.
