APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday May 20, 2008 (MJD 54607) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Audrey Simmons (afternoon) Steph Snedden (MSP calibrations) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- MSP and engineering ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- New fiducial tables installed. MCP was rebooted (and correct PID values were verified, Dan) MSP imager calibrations tonight consisted of some repeat testing of u CCDs with old stageX positions, to see if the results are repeatable (still bad?): u3 linearity and QE completed u4 linearity and QE completed ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Checked in and installed a new version of fiducials - v1_75. Last month's altitude and rotator tables had smaller errors than this month, so I decided to stick with these values. However, a new azimuth table for this month was implemented. Note: These fiducial tables are good for an average temperature of ~6C. Night: ------ MSP calibrations. We will run a repeatability test tonight on some u filter measurements with old stage positions, and see how they compare to previous attempts. Are they still bad? u3 linearity - stageX=20510, stageY=480 --------------------------------------- slit at 0.5, lamp V=20 03:19:09Z Run 7514 Frame 1 - bias 03:32:26Z - Frame 2 - start of sequence Sequence frames are idR-7514-u3-2.fit - idR-7514-u3-20.fit No warnings u4 linearity - stageX=29610, stageY=480 --------------------------------------- slit at 0.5mm, lamp V=20 04:50Z - Run 7514 Sequence frames are idR-7514-u4-21.fit - idR-7514-u4-40.fit No warnings Moved the stageX back to dewar one so I could best see the slit caliper verniers in order to change them, then moved back to dewar three. u3 QE - stageX=20510, stageY=480 -------------------------------- slit at 0.75mm (I hope), lamp V=22.5 06:30Z - Run 7514 Sequence frames are idR-7514-u3-41.fit - idR-7514-u3-72.fit Warnings: Warning! too low flux on photodiode! aflux -715699.6 < 5000*(exptime) stageX 205100 lambda 300.0 time 90.000 (frame 58) WARNING!
