Imaging: -- Run 7917, stripe 73 N, lambda 162 -(-153) including ramp, good seeing for the most of time, total 319 frames. Seeing was not good from lambda (-165) to the end of the run. -- Run 7918, stripe 73N, lambda (-164) to lambda (-145) including rump, 138 frames. Good seeing for lambda (-164)-(-160), and bad after that. We observed the stripe behind stop lambda to get necessary 100 science frames for automatic reduction. Spectro: - Obtained good signal on plates: 3207 (cart 5) - Finished plates: plate 3224 (cart 3), 3173 (cart 4). Problems: endNight is not completed. We need help to complete it. See more details in the log. The telescope laptop's tcc session started to print and scroll the flow of lines with error messages which we could not read and could not use telescope laptop for operation. Pure flow gauge shows low value ~3 instead of ~9. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- id1 was unresponsive at the start of afternoon checkout. Since this problem has a habit of occurring in clusters across nodes, I rebooted both photo crates and the astro crate. A mechPiston of 5000 was made to both spectrographs. The focus appears to be set for an air temp of about 1C. No other problems noted during afternoon checkout. Removed MJDs 54818 - 54822 from sdsshost2 /sdssfiles1 The disk space is now: /dev/sdb1 917G 824G 47G 95% /data sdssfiles1p:/data1/data 1.5T 791G 602G 57% /files 23:58Z Enclosure ventilation started Night: ----- 00:20 Enclosure is off. It was photometric per Cloud Cam, but we saw some clouds on horizon. Wind direction was ~230 grad, dimm seeing was 0.5". Mounted imager. 01:38Z stripe 85 S, run 7916. There were delay with displaying of "r" for id5, id6, and "i" for id6. In foc from frame 23. Skippy was happy from the beginning, but the seeing rose to 2.5" and stay there for 10 more min. Alt of this run was low 29 grad, and we switched to try another stripe. The flavor of this scan selected as "ignore". 02:04 stripe 73 N, run 7917. Seeing was better then 2", so we proceeded. 02:09 Z Ramp start from lambda 162, frame 18 Almost in focus by frame 18 (+-5 counts), in focus by frame 21. Skippy was happy from the beginning. 02:17 Z Science start at lambda 164, frame 32, seeing ~1.4". Seeing was good for most of run. It jumped to 2.5" form frame 245 lambda=(-165), because the changing of wind direction. We were very close to complete the stripe, so we finished. End science frame 306 lambda=(-155), end ramp frame 319 lambda =(-153). Frames 245-319 have seeing ~2"-2.5". We decided to complete the stripe in case it might still be useful. We tried to observe the last portion of stripe again. Stripe 73 N, run 7918. Skippy and focus are good from the beginning. It was surprised that seeing was ~1.6" 05:15Z Ramp lambda=(-164) frame 11 05:23Z Science lambda =-162, frame 25 Frames 1 - 50 had seeing under 2", 42-74 seeing < 2.5", but we still need to get 100 frames for necessary data reduction. 06:23Z, end science lambda -174, frame 126. We could not apply any tcc commands from telescope laptop and finished the telescope operation (down to alt=30, down to alt 6, and up to alt 30) from control room where the flow was less. It stopped itself in ~20 min. endNight is not completed.
