APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday September 19, 2009 (MJD 55094) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Alaina Shelden Elena Malanushenko Paul Harding Craig Loomis (MSG, STUI) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science : Boss imaging if weather permit, guider test if go to sky, boss tests if stay closed. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We did not open last night because of clouds, high humidity, and nearby storm. We made the next boss tests: 15 biases, ff=101769-783 15 darks with 600 sec exposures, ff=101784-785 1 set of dithered flats with 20 sec exposure ff=101804-825 Paul's light leak test, ff=101827-830. Spectro dewar needs to be replaced after one more fill, and we will carry about it tomorrow. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- 23:05Z Restarted servers 23:41Z Afternoon checkout had no problems. Crirical alert was around 02:00Z, we did not see anything in alert window or in the log. Craig said, it related with variation of CCD voltages which will be adjusted soon. Darks ======= We did test dark exposures using sop: I verifyed that we do not need to use black foam. Enclosure was dark: light was off, stop button was outside. Visual inspection showed several LED lights but we desided to leave them for now as is. 02:24:42Z sop doCalibs ndarks=2 darkTime=600 I did not see echo of this command in my STUI log, it might be good to have the echo to save timeof some commands in the observer log. ff=101784-101785 During the exposures we got camcheck error but it did not affect exposures. ---- >> 02:40:05 .boss 902 boss f text="command failed: ValueError("invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'NaN'",) at /home/sdss3/products/Linux64/boss/v1_2_6/python/boss/Commands/MechCmd.py:76" ------ After each dark exposure we got the message in STUI log that bias finished: 02:48:46 APO.APO 21 sop i text="bias exposure finished" Header show "dark" as a flavour. He repeat the test (8:31Z, ff=830) and shone the light directly to the door areas. He found some open space at the base plate of both sides of the cartridges. Paul will write some results himself. The humidity is dropping and the difference is going up to 3.5C. We checked the telescope but it was still very wet there. We do not have time to wait and called it end of night. 10:35 endNight is finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8045 00:06Z 00:36Z 100 O 69.82 77.31 64 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:44Z 53 46 6 261 (W) 949 - 22:17Z 52 46 7 303 (WNW) 1052 - 22:49Z 52 46 8 302 (WNW) 1036 - 23:19Z 53 46 7 266 (W) 1045 - 23:51Z 51 46 11 264 (W) 1159 - 00:32Z 49 46 6 321 (NW) 1189 - 01:04Z 49 45 5 329 (NNW) 1127 - 01:36Z 49 45 7 283 (WNW) 1038 - 02:08Z 49 46 7 292 (WNW) 1134 - 02:40Z 50 43 9 269 (W) 984 - 03:12Z 48 46 9 252 (WSW) 1177 - 03:44Z 48 46 11 245 (WSW) 1350 - 04:16Z 47 46 11 220 (SW) 1256 - 04:49Z 47 47 10 180 (S) 5947 - 05:21Z 46 46 10 143 (SE) 2506 - 05:53Z 48 44 3 200 (SSW) 1115 - 06:25Z 47 44 5 262 (W) 1141 - 06:57Z 48 45 7 254 (WSW) 1186 - 07:29Z 47 46 6 223 (SW) 1285 - 08:02Z 48 45 9 268 (W) 1237 - 08:34Z 47 46 8 243 (WSW) 1387 - 09:06Z 46 45 7 264 (W) 1125 - 09:38Z 45 42 9 220 (SW) 736 - 10:10Z 46 40 5 213 (SSW) 491 - 10:42Z 47 39 7 259 (W) 453 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never ventilated.
