APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday September 3, 2002 (MJD 52521) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Dan Long Atsuko Nitta ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- After a long wait on variable and occasionally leaky clouds we opened around 07:00z. We finished two plates ( 8 738, 3 1095 ) and got data on a third ( 7 1082 ). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- 07:00z Opened after lengthy cloud delay Cartridge 8 738: guide stars on the slew Done in three exposures totaling 55 minutes. 08:50z Cartridge 3 1095: Guide stars on the slew This one took four exposures totaling 75 minutes of exposure time despite better seeing and higher guider efficiency. SoS was not happy about the smear on this plate. It had about a fourth of the signal as the smear on the previous plate. Skies were clear and seeing was reasonable. The guider frames from the smear looked as if the telescope tracked properly. 10:45z Cartridge 7 1082: Guide stars on the slew Got two science exposures before it was too bright to continue ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3320 00:19Z 00:35Z 100 O 57.02 60.94 40 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 16155, plate -9999 ------- 00:21 16155 0.0 bias ----- sequence 16156, plate 1095 ------- 00:36 16156 10.0 flat 00:39 16157 2.0 arc ----- sequence 16158, plate 738 ------- 19.7 17.7 16.6 15.2 07:18 16158 10.0 flat 07:20 16159 2.0 arc 07:40 16160 900.0 target 08:03 16161 1202.0 target 08:26 16162 1201.0 target 08:33 16163 240.0 smear 08:37 16164 10.0 flat 08:39 16165 2.0 arc ----- sequence 16166, plate 1095 ------- 19.0 15.7 20.2 19.4 08:58 16166 10.0 flat 09:01 16167 2.0 arc 09:19 16168 902.0 target 09:42 16169 1202.0 target 10:05 16170 1200.0 target 10:27 16171 1200.0 target 10:35 16172 240.0 smear ----- sequence 16173, plate 1082 ------- 10.9 10.2 8.9 10.4 10:49 16173 10.0 flat 10:52 16174 2.0 arc 11:17 16175 1201.0 target 11:41 16176 1201.0 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 07:27Z 8 738 -30.33 0.0060 68.19 0.0011 154.07 -0.0093 1.000050 09:28Z 3 1095 -45.30 0.0035 47.74 0.0015 143.26 -0.0061 1.000220 11:00Z 7 1082 -42.43 0.0027 48.95 0.0006 145.39 -0.0247 1.000170 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL5500 Stays: JL5549 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 07:27Z 8 738 1.00005 -493 476 -250 -30 68.2 12.0 11 90 - 2.1 09:30Z 3 1095 1.00022 -2171 -810 -200 -46 47.6 11.8 9 91 - 1.6 11:00Z 7 1082 1.00017 -1678 -406 -200 -42 48.9 11.8 8 90 - 2.0 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:15Z 61 40 14 122 (ESE) 476 - Mostly Cloudy 00:47Z 59 40 12 119 (ESE) 468 - Mostly Cloudy 01:20Z 59 40 12 112 (ESE) 506 - Partly Cloudy 01:52Z 59 39 12 84 (E) 516 - Mostly Cloudy 02:28Z 58 37 15 112 (ESE) 502 - Sprinkles 03:00Z 57 39 15 112 (ESE) 579 - Mostly Cloudy 03:33Z 56 39 12 85 (E) 562 - Mostly Cloudy 04:06Z 56 40 18 112 (ESE) 598 - Partly Cloudy 04:37Z 56 40 14 110 (ESE) 602 - Partly Cloudy 05:09Z 56 41 13 114 (ESE) 635 - Mostly Cloudy 05:42Z 55 42 12 107 (ESE) 631 - Mostly Cloudy 06:14Z 55 43 10 93 (E) 631 - Partly Cloudy 06:46Z 54 43 9 96 (E) 702 - Partly Cloudy 07:18Z 53 43 13 108 (ESE) 727 - Mostly Clear 07:33Z 53 43 10 87 (E) 682 - Mostly Clear 08:04Z 53 43 11 107 (ESE) 730 - Clear? 08:34Z 53 43 9 103 (ESE) 694 - Mostly Clear 09:05Z 53 43 8 96 (E) 727 - Clear? 09:36Z 53 43 11 84 (E) 755 - Clear? 10:07Z 53 43 8 88 (E) 716 - Clear? 10:39Z 54 43 8 85 (E) 727 - Clear? 11:14Z 53 43 10 105 (ESE) 747 - Clear? 11:44Z 52 42 10 112 (ESE) 715 - Mostly Clear ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:20z Doors Open, Fans On 07:00z Enclosure Open 11:50Z Enclosure closed, Fans off Stowed at 30 deg alt, cartridge 7 installed.
