Variable clouds. 2 PT filter runaways. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Moon was up the first hour of the night and clouds were expected shortly thereafter, so we started with spectroscopy: cart 7 plate 1143. Stars on the gotoField. (Spectrograph filling by the way, took about 25 minutes.) This is a special rockosi plate. We continued to see lower r S/N compared to B and a curvature in the S/N diagram for the dimmer objects. Connie, is the S/N SoS is reporting likely real, or due, at least in part, to your target selection here? We spent 45 minutes on this plate, didn't finish it, and switched to imaging since the seeing was good and it looks now like the clouds will pass by to the north of us. We started with strip 82S, lambda=140, since it was a bit too late to get the beginning of this chunk of the strip. Data are good by frame 17, lambda~142. Around frame 199, we got high skyL values in chip 45. Clouds started appearing in the SW around 05:00Z, about frame 240 or so, lambda ~176 (although the magic cloud value was around 5.0). Most clouds went away by ~05:55, frame 325, lambda -171, although the cloud meter never got above 6.0. Clouds starting again about 10 minutes later, but again the cloud meter was only round 3-5. Clouds came back for real around 06:10, lambda~-166, frame~360. Weather map looked like this was the tip of the clouds we thought we'd get earlier, so we decided to see if we could sneak in some spectra before the big front came in... We ended the drift at frame 379. We went with cart 1 plate 805, a faint galaxy plate. In the hurry to switch, we forgot an on-telescope imager bias; hope yesterday's will do. guideStarsOnTheGotoField. Combined with previous data, we finished this plate. On to cart 2 plate 1065. During setup, Atsuko's guiderMon stopped updating with new images. She killed the monitor, did a stopMon and startMon and all was well. NoStarsOnTheGotoField. An fk5 star was found ~8" away. guideStarsWereThenFoundOnTheSubsequentGotoField.
