I hope the data is good since it is unlikely that we will go back to observe few-degree-length stripe. Dust count was around 20000 all night long. ptvmeFailure happened during engNight. ptvmeRest solved the problem. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing shift notes ----------------- Batten down the hatches! This year's miller moth season has begun. Focus was adjusted on both spectrographs. See Spectrographs Focus and Collimation section for details. All other preflight checks completed without anomalies. Night -------- 01:30Z imager mounted since the weather looked good. Then we opened. 02:36Z Watcher throws Imager ln2 error. Seems to be triggered by secondary fill. The error did not return. Clouds are coming in....! 03:40Z The weather www page shows the clouds are getting larger. We decide to spectro. cart 3 plate 1239 --------------------- 04:00Z We did instChange in 20min. Not bad. guide stars on gotoField. We finished this plate in two exposures (+ previous exposures). cart 8 plate 1225 ------------------- 07:10Z guide stars on gotoField. I could not finish all the spectro QA for the previous plate... Stilll working on them. Well, I found out that the previous plate nor this plate has any fiber targetted as WD. sigh. The clouds have disappeared and the seeing is getting better. We finish this plate in three exposures and change back to imaging. 06:25Z Run 3926 29S Skiippy ran on frame 10 and is happy. SoKent reports good seeing. lambda=32 frame=18 All is happy. lambda=35 frame=38 science begins. lambda=65.8 frame=243 end of drift. 08:49Z After slewing to the new stripe, Mike's iop hung and did not return a prompt. He had to start a new iop session. 3 x contrl-C eventually returned the prompt. Is it possible for IOP to be confused if stripeAxisRates and focusLoop was issued from the same window? Both commands popped up their own pgplot windows instead of overwriting one window. Can this feature confuse iop? 08:59Z 3927 27N lambda=35 frame=11 frame 10 skippy ran happily. We are in-focus and the rotator is at the right position from the beginning. 10:46Z lambda=61.2 frame=186 start of the twilight. We will continue since we are 3 degrees before the end of the survey science area. If we don't try to get as much as possible, the last few degrees won't ever get done. 10:57Z sky level=69. (59 before twilight started). No watcher beeps yet. lambda=64, frame 205 science end. We ramp down now. 11:06Z lambda=66.3 frame=220 stopped the run. sky value=120. watcher never complained. So we hope all is good. 11:15Z Closed. 11:30Z The servers have died. Tried starting them, but the server windows disappear the moment it pops up. I think I saaw the ptvme error message on the server window the breif moment the server window pops up. We are in the middle of the endNight.... The ptvmeTest results are in the PROBLEM section. There were nonzero errno reported. After issuing ptvmeRest, the main server started up ok and after couple minuts, the other servers came back up. phew. endNight is running....
