APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday June 19, 2003 (MJD 52810) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: Steph Snedden Night: Mike Harvanke Atsuko Nitta ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown - night 2 Science in the dark and pointing model in the moon. ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Clouds and rain prevented us from going on sky. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Swing: ====== We had a power failure at approx. 21:30Z. After grid power came back on, all telescope and instrument systems appeared to have come through with no problems. Gang transfers stopped during the imager bias check. See the problems section. Spectrograph focus checked and no adjustments needed. Collimator motor positions are recorded after the problems section. The rest of afternoon checkout was trouble-free. Night ======= We opened doors and turned the fans on, but seeing very threatening clouds close by, we wait.. We tried to align the DIMM, but clouds kept eclipsing our alignment stars. Furthermore, the finder appears to need realigning (again! grumble, grumble). We will try again tomorrow night, if the clouds cooperate. 07:00Z We thought of opening since the cloud camera looked good. But we were still surrouneded by clouds and there were lightenings in them too. So we wait more... 09:30Z Rain. We turned off the fans and closed the doors. endNight ran successfully. We declared iop v3_113_2 current since the new server script seems to be working fine and nothing else is new in this iop. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3989 22:42Z 22:58Z 100 O -42.57 -38.50 41 ignore 3990 01:19Z 01:39Z 100 O -3.13 1.77 42 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 21432, plate -9999 ------- 22:38 21432 0.0 bias ----- sequence 21433, plate 1371 ------- 23:02 21433 10.0 flat 23:04 21434 2.0 arc 23:24 21435 10.0 flat 23:26 21436 2.0 arc 23:38 21437 2.1 arc 23:41 21438 2.1 arc ----- sequence 21439, plate -9999 ------- 01:51 21439 0.0 bias ----- sequence 21440, plate 1371 ------- 03:11 21440 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:02Z 3 1371 1.00000 0 1257 0 121 30.0 15.3 8 182 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:15Z 66 39 16 216 (SW) 940 - 22:49Z 58 43 18 226 (SW) 1003 - 23:21Z 57 42 1 212 (SSW) 1104 - 23:52Z 65 44 2 210 (SSW) 984 - 00:25Z 65 43 10 187 (S) 1026 - 01:25Z 61 42 9 208 (SSW) 1026 - 01:57Z 60 38 9 178 (S) 1074 - 02:28Z 58 41 14 150 (SSE) 1018 - 03:00Z 58 41 13 145 (SE) 929 - 03:32Z 58 40 14 149 (SSE) 876 - 04:05Z 57 39 14 127 (SE) 878 - 04:37Z 54 43 25 134 (SE) 787 - 05:09Z 54 43 21 120 (ESE) 904 - 05:41Z 54 43 22 133 (SE) 943 - 06:14Z 55 41 18 149 (SSE) 786 - 06:46Z 55 41 20 133 (SE) 980 - 07:18Z 55 40 20 142 (SE) 763 - 07:50Z 55 39 23 177 (S) 695 - 08:20Z 54 41 16 168 (SSE) 656 - 08:50Z 53 42 20 167 (SSE) 686 - 09:20Z 52 42 17 147 (SSE) 716 - 09:51Z 52 42 20 150 (SSE) 773 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 02:15Z Doors open, fans on 04:30Z Doors cracked (not totally closed) 09:30Z Doors closed, fans off Telescope at stow with cart 3 mounted. After the reboot, Watcher complained for all crates. dsc I archFailMsg Rimfire failure ID = 2 Status = 0x703a0200 0x82 (dsc_I_archFailMsg Rimfire failure ID = 2 Status = 0x703a0200 0x82 : 2003-06-20 01:00:33Z ) dsc I archFailMsg Rimfire failure ID = 1 Status = 0x703a0200 0x82 (dsc_I_archFailMsg Rimfire failure ID = 1 Status = 0x703a0200 0x82 : 2003-06-20 01:00:33Z ) But when we asked the crates of their health (archReadSense), they said they were happy.
