APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Sunday January 11, 2004 (MJD 53016) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- swing: Steph Snedden night: Dan Long Jurek Krzesinski support: Wendell Jordan Visitor: Jian Ga Penn State University ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Shakedown - night 1 ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Nothing done tonight. The weather was bad, we never got a chance to open the telescope. Note to the day crew: Imager LN2 dewar will be emptied about 6:00am, so it HAS TO BE REPLACED before 10 am today. The same with the spectrograph dewar. The readings are: imager 77 lb, spectro 65 lb at 04:20 am. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- swing: ------ Wendell came in to check the 180 and 225 degree az fiducials. They were secure, and readings were repeatable, so we have to assume the readings from the last table were off. Wendell generated a new set of az data, which looked good. The new az table was checked in and installed. Mirrors homed and relaxed. Afternoon checkout was without problems, aside from forgetting that "plate 666" was still on when trying to get a spectro flat and arc. Night: ------ Shake tasks for tonight: Usual shakedown tasks + new guider code tests, Jim's donuts. The eng. camera was mouted this afternoon but the sky is cloudy. Problems with setting up the eng. camera. We couldn't initialize the engineering camera. TCC doesn't recognize eng cam: set inst = engcam result in errors - ooops we suppose to set inst= bigengcam instead. Yes - it worked properly that way. We copied the instrument file for "bigengcam" into "engcam", so we can now use the old tcc command: set inst = engcam, to avoid confusions in future. 03:07Z Dew point went below 3.0 we shut the enclosure doors, fans off. 04:45Z It's snowing and humidity is too high. Waiting. No, we weren't able to open - no pointing model tonight :( 11:00Z We gave up and run endNight on "cloudy" tapes. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4362 22:54Z 23:21Z 100 O 163.57 170.41 33 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 24612, plate -9999 ------- 22:57 24612 0.0 bias 23:08 24613 0.0 bias ----- sequence 24614, plate 1135 ------- 23:30 24614 10.0 flat 23:33 24615 2.0 arc 23:41 24616 0.0 bias 23:44 24617 10.0 flat 23:47 24618 2.0 arc 23:57 24619 10.0 flat 23:59 24620 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL nothing Stays: JL nothing ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:56Z 39 27 9 321 (NW) 675 - 23:32Z 38 28 6 335 (NNW) 807 - 00:04Z 37 28 8 308 (NW) 794 - 00:36Z 36 28 11 301 (WNW) 865 - 01:08Z 36 28 12 330 (NNW) 804 - 01:40Z 36 28 0 173 (S) 922 - 02:13Z 36 27 7 355 (NNW) 951 - 02:45Z 36 27 2 337 (NNW) 940 - 03:17Z 35 27 5 335 (NNW) 886 - 03:49Z 34 25 2 252 (WSW) 825 - 04:21Z 34 25 3 295 (WNW) 718 - 04:55Z 33 27 2 288 (WNW) 685 - 05:27Z 35 31 6 238 (WSW) 263 - 05:59Z 35 31 10 207 (SSW) 138 - 06:32Z 34 31 7 195 (SSW) 126 - 07:04Z 35 31 11 227 (SW) 187 - 07:36Z 34 31 7 229 (SW) 215 - 08:08Z 34 31 10 236 (SW) 198 - 08:41Z 34 31 7 253 (WSW) 211 - 09:13Z 34 30 7 270 (W) 154 - 09:45Z 33 30 7 273 (W) 239 - 10:17Z 33 30 3 326 (NW) 202 - 10:50Z 33 29 11 306 (NW) 183 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 00:15Z Doors opened, fans on. 11:20Z We never opend tonight.
