Two plates declared done and good signal on two more. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon ========= When starting one of the iop windows, I got the following message. Thinking it is bad luck, I did not use this particular window for anything and logged out of iop. Sourcing murmurCommands.tcl. Night ===== We opened at sunset for spectroscopy. 02:56Z - Cartridge 3, plate 1704. No guide stars on slew, but it was still pretty bright twilight. After clearing offsets, an FK5 was found. Seeing deteriorated during the first exposure, going above 3.5 asec at times. DIMM agreed that the seeing was poor. The resulting exposure had (S/N)^2 > 2, barely. 04:09Z - We paused for poor seeing for a minute, then tried again, getting useable but low S/N. We pounded on this plate until it expired, for a total of 6000s, but couldn't declare it done. One more exposure should finish it. Winds gusted close to closure for a while and lightning was detected within 8 miles, but no threatening clouds or precipitation were in the area, so we stayed open, but kept an eye on the sky. The lightning warning cleared and the winds went down. We saw max sky-residual chi^2 warnings for r1 in Son-of-Spectro, but as usual didn't see anything in the sky plots to worry us. 05:55Z - Cartridge 4, plate 1650 - Guide stars found after an offset of -6 asec in RA. More r1 warnings for the max sky-residual chi^2. Seeing improved and our efficiency went up. Declared done with a total exposure time of 3300 s. 07:28Z - Cartridge 5, plate 1571 - Guide stars on gotoField (with offsets from previous plate). Declared this plate done with a total exposure time of 3000 s. 08:53Z - Cartridge 7, plate 1032 - lowz - Guide stars after a -6 asec RA offset (on top of the previous offset).
