Had to force a correction of 1590 to the rotator fiducials. The other axes were fine. My logTool running from landrupe would not record the mirror numbers. It sent the mir stat command, but didn't display any numbers in the log. It's worked fine the last few days, so ????? The rest of the checkout went without problems. Night: Once again, it looks like an imaging night. stripeAxisRates again worked for 1100, but gave bogus results for the rotator (we tried the new stripeAxisRates in v3_140_1 later - read on). The evening bias (run 4831) looked the same as last night (take that however you want to). Sorry, we did not record any specific chips or CCDs that showed the "banding". We started with 1100S, mu=247, pre-twilight. For some unknown reason, scanStripe timed out (it looked like everything was good), so we re-issued it (after ctrl-c'ing out of the original scanStripe). Focus good from the start (0+-20*T). Frame 16 - lambda=249 - all in spec. Jimmy apparently killed our teamster again - around 02:44. We forced a new one at 02:54. 05:57Z: Seeing went from good to bad - frame 339 - mu=297, according to SOK. We tested the new IOP which was supposed to have a working stripeAxisRates, but only got different errors than last night: im> stripeAxisRates 1260 08:00 -startMu 30 Error: invalid keyed list format or inconsistent field name scoping: no value associated with field "no" im> tb invalid keyed list format or inconsistent field name scoping: no value associated with field "no" while executing "keylget strlim nu" invoked from within "set nu [keylget strlim nu]..." invoked from within "if {$stripe < 100} { set eta [keylget strlim eta] if {$lambdaStart == -999} { set lambdaStart [keylget strlim lambdaMin] } if {$lambdaEnd == ..." (procedure "stripeAxisRates" line 10) invoked from within "stripeAxisRates 1260 08:00 -startMu 30" im> But on re-reading Eric's emails, we suspected the fix was for the bad rotation rates and not the non-working stripes part. Nope: im> stripeAxisRates 1100 23:00 -startMu 252 Error: invalid keyed list format or inconsistent field name scoping: no value associated with field "no" im> 06:21Z: Seeing acceptable by frame frame 379, mu=303 and good by frame 395, mu=305. The means the area of bad seeing is from mu=297-303. 07:08Z: The cloud camera made an excursion to ~8 from ~06:35Z to ~07:00Z. The "disturbance" seemed well-localized and away from where we were pointing. The region scanned here is ~mu=309-316. 08:01Z: Cloud camera again between 6 and 8 from ~07:15-08:00Z (~mu=320 to 331); seeing bad from frame 510, mu=323 to 567, mu=331. 08:05Z frame 580, mu=333 (science stop goal was 332) 08:13Z endDrift- frame 592, mu=335. I'm declaring all this strip done, even though there are some instances of bad seeing and marginal photometricity. For the sake of the plan now, I think it's best to declare it done. Any objections, Steve? 08:15Z next up 72S lambda=-173; this should set us up to end at lambda=-126 at the end of the night. 08:24Z strip 72S in good seeing, but sky camera SDev ~8. 08:26Z a manual skippy showed the rotator off -0.046 08:28Z frame 19 - rotator correction issued - done by frame 21, lambda=-170. Seeing, focus good). 08:36Z- endDrift- cloud camera above 12 and no sign of improvement. We decided to switch to spectroscopy. 08:55Z: cart 7 plate 1907 (segueFaint). GSOTGTF (after offsets cleared) Around 10:09Z, we had a PTVME problem and lost 20m (plus future setup time since we will not be able to finish this plate now). Details in the Problems section. 10:33Z SpectroQA: arc frame 28563, r1/b1 - shows two bad fibers with one good fiber situated between them that we don't remember seeing before. Is there a new bad/unplugged fiber? Plate 1907, cart 7. (Same thing in science exposures, so it must be one of the previous conjectures.) We didn't finish this plate in 3 exposures. On to ... 10:41Z Cart 2 plate 1559 (lowz). GSOTGTF. The flatField gave a new error we haven't seen before: loading /data/spectro/guiderDarks/dark-30-53238.fits Error: GMAKEHIST: Flat exposure is too faint. Counts in fibers must be > 500 and the preCalib process bailed. We issued a new one. 11:09Z Once the science exposure started, the arc's r1 wsigma came out red in SoS, meaning we need to recollimate. Knowing we would not have enough time to collimate and get another science exposure, we took another arc, hoping it might be something wrong with that particular exposure. Alas, no luck, so we closed shop. endNight running... ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame
