APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Monday November 15, 2004 (MJD 53325) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Steph Snedden Pete Newman Mike Harvanek (swing) Visitor: Douglas Tucker (FNAL) Bill Boroski (FNAL) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Water was found in the windbaffle controller box this afternoon. The source was a melting snowdrift in the northeast corner of the upper enclosure. The snow that was reachable was removed, the box was dried out and plastic garbage bags were employed as shields. Thanks to Steve Bastian and Wendell Jordan for their help. We left the windbaffle controller box door open, per Wendell's request. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Water was found in the windbaffle controller box this afternoon. Wendell Jordan and Steve Bastian came to check out the situation. The source was found to be a melting snowdrift in the northeast corner of the upper enclosure. Steve removed the snow that was reachable but he could not get at all of it. The box was dried out and Wendell looked it over. He decided it was safe to operate and we powered up the windbaffle and moved the telescope in altitude. Everything appeared to function normally. Steve made a shield of plastic garbage bags to keep the remainder of the water out. Spectro collimation was adjusted. Details are in the Problems section. Windscreen touch during checkout: altitude (Windscreen touched in altitude: UP (2004-11-16 00:11:09Z sdssmcp): 2004-11-16 00:11:23Z) Nothing else to report. Night: ------ Clouds, high humidity, rain, slush. We never really had much hope for tonight. We never opened. endNight -crummyWeatherAgain???!!! finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4966 22:38Z 22:56Z 100 O 104.00 108.59 45 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n):n QA Procedures Done (y/n):n UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 29394, plate -9999 ------- 22:33 29394 0.0 bias ----- sequence 29395, plate 1925 ------- 00:17 29395 10.0 flat collimation 00:20 29396 2.0 arc collimation 00:25 29397 2.1 arc collimation 00:27 29398 2.1 arc collimation 00:40 29399 2.1 arc collimation 00:42 29400 2.1 arc collimation ----- sequence 29401, plate -9999 ------- 01:36 29401 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL N/A Stays: JL N/A ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 22:08Z 34 31 19 71 (ENE) 18 - 22:40Z 35 32 20 81 (E) 32 - 23:13Z 35 32 9 85 (E) 43 - 23:45Z 35 32 22 111 (ESE) 41 - clouds, rain 00:17Z 35 32 18 110 (ESE) 84 - clouds, rain 00:49Z 35 32 18 114 (ESE) 98 - clouds, rain 01:22Z 35 32 15 83 (E) 160 - rain, clouds 01:50Z 35 32 12 114 (ESE) 186 - rain, clouds 02:22Z 35 32 18 88 (E) 156 - rain, clouds 02:54Z 35 33 16 110 (ESE) 170 - more 03:26Z 35 33 21 112 (ESE) 196 - of 03:59Z 34 33 20 110 (ESE) 194 - the 04:31Z 34 33 15 103 (ESE) 140 - same 05:03Z 34 33 13 109 (ESE) 217 - . 05:35Z 34 33 11 107 (ESE) 199 - . 06:08Z 34 33 15 113 (ESE) 211 - . 06:40Z 34 33 14 129 (SE) 27527 - . 07:12Z 33 33 16 131 (SE) 7648 - . 07:48Z 32 32 17 128 (SE) 4384 - . 08:20Z 31 31 13 180 (S) 21716 - . 08:53Z 31 31 7 103 (ESE) 1461 - . 09:25Z 32 32 16 132 (SE) 16 - . 09:57Z 32 31 14 88 (E) 43 - . 10:29Z 34 31 13 78 (ENE) 38 - . 11:02Z 33 31 17 70 (ENE) 46 - . ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Never opened.
