APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Tuesday March 28, 2006 (MJD 53823) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Swing: John Barentine Night: Jurek Krzesinski Olena Malanushenko Visitors: LAMOST Beijing China, Haotong Zhang, Xu ZHOU (who stayed most of the night with us). ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- After some waiting finaly the weather got improved (obviously thanks to LAMOST group) and we finished 4 plates: 2229,2234,2240,2163. Problems: --------- portion of image not in the buffer (see the log). ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon --------- No problems today. Spectro focus numbers are in the Problems section. Night ----- 04:14Z cart 1 plt 2434 mounted. SOGTF. One exposure taken. not done. 04:58Z cart 5 plt 2077 mounted. SOGTF. One exposure taken. We've got an error message whe we changed the exposure time on this plate: SOPGUI: pauseStare appending PAUSE Exposure has been paused end stare is still scheduled, but time should stay fixed SOPGUI: resumeStare 1800 Changing exposure time to 1800 seconds appending ALTER Exposure started at 2006-03-29 05:05:10Z; 922.3 seconds to go Exposure started at 2006-03-29 05:05:10Z; 914.8 seconds to go SORRY: portion of image not in buffer. <---- HERE plate not done. 05:40Z cart 4 plt 2229 mounted. Fk5 used. Plate done. 06:29Z cart 6 plt 2234 mounted. SOGTF. Plate done. 07:45Z It's photometric and we have good seeing, but since we passed all good starting time for imaging and we are under the thread of clouds comming within 2.5-3 hours, we decided to continue with spectroscopy. 07:50Z cart 7 plt 2240 mounted. We've got a problem with setting up on the guide stars with this plate. The rotator was quite off, it's very likely that was caused by telescope pointing towards zenith. After 5 minutes of offestting the telescope we menaged to get guide stars in the fibers. Plate done. 09:10Z cart 9 plt 2163 mounted. fk5 star used to find the guide stars. Plate done. 10:30Z cart 8 plt 2135 mounted. fk5 star used to find the guide stars. At the same time clouds showed in the cloud camera and it's not photometric anymore. Clouds thickened, second exposure declared bad. plate not done. endNight finished ok. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6078 22:22Z 22:59Z 100 O -129.05 -119.89 74 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n):y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 38331, plate -9999 ------- 22:10 38331 0.0 bias 22:23 38332 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38333, plate 2434 ------- 22:30 38333 10.0 flat 22:32 38334 2.0 arc 22:38 38335 2.1 arc 22:41 38336 2.1 arc 23:01 38337 2.1 arc 23:03 38338 2.1 arc ----- sequence 38339, plate -9999 ------- 00:51 38339 0.0 bias 01:07 38340 0.0 bias ----- sequence 38341, plate 2434 ------- 04:21 38341 10.0 flat 04:24 38342 2.0 arc 04:47 38343 1200.1 target ----- sequence 38344, plate 2077 ------- 05:00 38344 10.0 flat 05:02 38345 2.0 arc 05:36 38346 1800.2 target ----- sequence 38347, plate 2229 ------- 05:53 38347 10.0 flat 05:55 38348 2.0 arc 06:21 38349 1200.1 target ----- sequence 38350, plate 2234 ------- 06:34 38350 10.0 flat 06:36 38351 2.0 arc 07:11 38352 1200.1 target 07:24 38353 600.1 target 07:38 38354 600.1 target ----- sequence 38355, plate 2240 ------- 08:05 38355 10.0 flat 08:07 38356 2.0 arc 08:28 38357 900.1 target 08:46 38358 900.1 target 09:04 38359 900.1 target ----- sequence 38360, plate 2163 ------- 09:23 38360 10.0 flat 09:25 38361 2.0 arc 09:44 38362 900.1 target 10:02 38363 900.1 target 10:21 38364 900.1 target ----- sequence 38365, plate 2135 ------- 10:36 38365 10.0 flat 10:38 38366 2.0 arc 11:02 38367 1200.1 target 11:26 38368 1200.1 target ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:27Z 2434 -31.11 0.0007 68.47 0.0024 153.34 -0.0013 1.000170 05:14Z 2077 -52.60 0.0005 43.32 0.0007 138.00 -0.0317 1.000130 07:14Z 2234 -23.22 -0.0136 86.92 0.0025 157.42 0.2235 0.999980 08:25Z 2240 -68.45 -0.0002 77.06 0.0020 118.25 0.0125 1.000010 09:36Z 2163 43.62 -0.0059 79.19 0.0035 219.56 0.0473 1.000010 10:50Z 2135 281.48 0.0007 66.62 0.0021 113.96 -0.0101 1.000080 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes : JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 04:27Z 2434 1.00017 -1679 -76 180 -31 68.5 2.1 17 237 gdr 1.9 05:14Z 2077 1.00013 -1284 421 280 -53 43.3 2.8 18 248 1.3 07:12Z 2234 0.99998 198 1358 80 -19 87.0 2.7 18 256 1.4 08:25Z 2240 1.00001 -99 1089 50 -68 77.1 3.6 14 262 1.2 09:36Z 2163 1.00001 -99 1087 50 44 79.2 3.0 19 236 1.1 10:50Z 2135 1.00008 -790 583 100 281 66.6 2.8 19 240 1.1 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 20:23Z 44 27 17 245 (WSW) 1392 - 20:59Z 43 27 23 211 (SSW) 1265 - 21:31Z 42 27 22 231 (SW) 1577 - 22:03Z 42 27 18 215 (SW) 1556 - 22:34Z 40 30 12 255 (WSW) 1906 - 23:05Z 38 31 19 237 (WSW) 1435 - 01:08Z 32 31 7 267 (W) 1347 - 01:40Z 32 31 14 233 (SW) 1256 - 02:12Z 32 31 14 226 (SW) 1363 - 02:44Z 33 29 15 218 (SW) 1902 - 03:16Z 34 28 15 208 (SSW) 1858 - 03:49Z 34 27 13 221 (SW) 1887 - 04:19Z 34 27 15 224 (SW) 2021 - 04:49Z 36 24 17 241 (WSW) 2093 - 05:21Z 37 24 18 246 (WSW) 1886 - 05:53Z 37 23 15 242 (WSW) 1835 - 06:25Z 36 24 17 233 (SW) 1815 - 06:57Z 37 24 13 257 (WSW) 1575 - 07:29Z 37 23 17 260 (W) 1541 - 08:02Z 38 24 18 266 (W) 1099 - 08:33Z 38 23 18 261 (W) 1202 - 09:03Z 38 24 16 260 (W) 1419 - 09:34Z 37 25 18 230 (SW) 1308 - 10:06Z 37 25 17 233 (SW) 780 - 10:39Z 36 26 20 235 (SW) 768 - 11:11Z 37 25 16 240 (WSW) 734 - 11:43Z 37 25 17 242 (WSW) 717 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 03:30Z Doors opened, fans on. 04:01Z TElescope opened, spectrodewars refilled. 11:59Z Telescope closed, fans off. ---=== SOFTWARE USED ===--- IOP/SOP: v4_19_0 Watcher: v2_31_0 MCP: v6_1_3 TPM: tpm_v3_3_0 AstroDa: v15_11 TCC: TCC 2.7.2.1 August 6 2004 sdssProcedures: v2_13 SoS: v5_1_0 hoggPT: v1_6_9 plate-mapper: v4_3_1 ---=== MIRROR NUMBERS ===--- PRIMARY: -------- Scale: 1.000000 MIGS TONIGHT NOMINAL Axial A -5.8550 -5.8440 Axial B -5.6690 -5.6770 Axial C 0.9370 0.9420 Trans D -10.0050 -9.9940 Lateral E 10.3886 10.3759 Lateral F 11.9507 11.9380 GALILS Commanded: 4700. -2450. 3000. -7800. 3300. 3000.
