APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday May 6, 2006 (MJD 53862) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Kaike Pan ET crew: Jian Ge, Scott Fleming support: Mike Harvanek ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- ET Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- A productive night, we observed all 8 ET plates under good seeing 1.0" to 1.2". Skies were photometric for most parts of the night. Per Jian's words, data set was excellent. ET cartridges will be observed in a same sequence each night. They were restored in cartridge bay accorrding to the observing sequence. Dust level began with < 2K and continuously crimbed to 3K. The integrated dust counts was about 26K. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- afternoon: ---------- Everything was fine. Sky was cloudy. Believe or not, this was first afternoon in May I saw the dust count below 2K. Beging from tonight, ET cartridges will be observed in a same order, cart 8, 9, 4, 6, 7, 2, 5, then #3. These cartridges were restored in cartridge bay according to this observing sequence so that we can get them quickly. Night: ------ 02:25Z ET calibration exposures 02:45Z cart 8, plt 8024. Cloudy and dust count at 2.1K. Stars on the edges of fibers (A: -5; D: +4). 03:55Z cart 9, plt 8025. stars on GTF (A:+8). photometric sky, dust at 2.4K. 05:10Z cart 4, plt 8026. offset (A: -9). Dust reached 2.7K but watcher still did NOT complain. Seeing was good, most stars had sub-arcsecond. High thin clouds at the end of the plate. 06:20Z cart 6, plt 8021. FK5 was used to got to the field (offsets: A -10; D +6). Dust at 2.6K. Seeing was variable, changes between 1.0 to 1.9. 07:20Z ET calibration 07:45Z cart 7, plt 8022. stars on GTF. Dust at 2.8K. Seeing was good, about 1.0". 08:50Z cart 2, plt 8027. FK5 was used to acquire the field. 09:55Z cart 5, plt 8029. one star on GTF. Thin clouds, but seeing is good: almost guiging stars had subarcsecond seeing. Dust reached 3K. 10:45Z cart 3, plt 8028. one star on GTF. Thin clouds. No guiding star infor readed for fiber #6 when loading cartridge 3, plate 8028, the same as last night. 12:00 endNight rejoiced. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 39118, plate -9999 ------- 00:36 39118 0.0 bias ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:56Z 8 8024 -35.73 -0.0044 72.57 0.0013 148.79 -0.0009 1.000210 04:11Z 9 8025 -10.60 0.0001 59.63 0.0010 171.01 0.0056 1.000160 05:23Z 4 8026 173.82 0.0061 68.94 0.0010 -8.88 0.0101 1.000110 06:35Z 6 8021 80.68 0.0044 70.67 0.0035 249.53 0.0117 1.000120 08:00Z 7 8022 131.60 0.0075 81.11 0.0036 -53.47 0.0395 1.000120 09:07Z 2 8027 125.33 0.0041 67.16 0.0019 -70.99 0.0141 1.000060 10:10Z 5 8029 107.39 0.0013 77.49 0.0031 -81.06 0.0173 1.000000 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL Stays: JL ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02:56Z 8 8024 1.00021 -2074 -589 0 -36 72.6 9.7 10 208 -- 1.1 04:11Z 9 8025 1.00016 -1580 -185 -30 -11 59.6 9.7 10 216 -- 1.2 05:22Z 4 8026 1.00011 -1086 209 -25 174 68.9 9.8 9 212 -- 1.1 06:35Z 6 8021 1.00012 -1185 49 -100 81 70.7 9.9 11 266 -- 1.0 07:59Z 7 8022 1.00012 -1185 157 20 131 81.0 9.3 13 212 -- 1.1 09:07Z 2 8027 1.00006 -593 646 0 125 67.1 9.0 15 201 -- 1.0 10:10Z 5 8029 1.00000 0 1121 0 107 77.5 8.8 12 200 -- 1.1 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 00:22Z 58 15 10 270 (W) 1741 - cloudy 00:54Z 54 13 8 264 (W) 1689 - cloudy 01:26Z 52 14 7 258 (WSW) 1996 - cloudy 01:58Z 49 13 5 263 (W) 2027 - cloudy 02:30Z 49 15 6 244 (WSW) 2083 - cloudy 03:01Z 49 15 8 217 (SW) 2096 - cloudy 03:34Z 49 15 9 209 (SSW) 2252 - mostly clear 04:05Z 49 11 12 227 (SW) 2427 - clear 04:35Z 49 12 9 220 (SW) 2483 - clear 05:05Z 49 11 10 219 (SW) 2616 - clear 05:37Z 49 11 8 193 (SSW) 2601 - clear 06:07Z 50 11 13 270 (W) 2617 - clear 06:40Z 49 11 10 274 (W) 2651 - clear 07:11Z 49 12 9 259 (W) 2747 - clear 07:44Z 49 11 9 227 (SW) 2619 - clear 08:15Z 48 11 13 202 (SSW) 2662 - clear 08:48Z 48 12 13 197 (SSW) 2810 - Thin clouds 09:19Z 48 12 15 196 (SSW) 2862 - cloudy 09:52Z 48 10 15 204 (SSW) 2779 - cloudy 10:24Z 47 10 13 200 (SSW) 2953 - cloudy 10:56Z 46 9 13 190 (S) 2822 - 11:29Z 46 8 13 212 (SSW) 2677 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- 01:00Z Doors and louvers opened, fans on. 01:40Z enclosure off. 11:40Z enclosure on, door and louvers closed, fans off.
