Completed 82 N -startLambda 115 -endLambda -125 ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- During the afternoon checkout, we noticed that the cloudCam artifact had returned. With Jon Brinkman's help, we attached a video monitor at the cloudCam to inspect the image coming directly off the CCD. Unfortunately, this test proved to lack the necessary sensitivity to see the artifact. Next, using saoDisplay, we examined some of the raw image files on hoggpt, which were captured earlier tonight. Yet, the artifact was not present in any of the cR*.fits files. Dan remember that the IRSC was really unhappy at 08:58:30Z Sunday night (MJD=54024). So, we moved those files to the observer account on sdsshost2; see /home/observer/irscArtifact By playing with the background, we were able to see the artifact in the cR085830.fit (raw) image. For a test, we tried turning off the constellation camera that uses the same circuit breaker box as the cloud camera; however, the artifact remained. From the above tests, we're guessing that the artifact problem could be in the CCD camera of the cloudCam, the camera's power supply, the frame grabber electronics, or the video display electronics. I (Howard) will work with Jon B. and French tomorrow to run more tests. Night: ---------- We were closed during the first part of the night because of high humidity. Earlier in the night, the PT's coldHead had problems maintaining the proper temperature. French power cycled the Cryo Tiger a few times, which seemed to fix the problem. 03:15Z Enclosure off We had to align the DIMM's finder by using an eyepiece since the field could not be found. 03:24Z SuperNova science 82 N -startLambda 115 -endLambda -125 endNight finished and was happy.
