Plates declared done: 2600 - Legacy 2752 - Legacy 2767 - Legacy 2518 - Legacy 2176 - SEGUE bright - this plate is very probably done, but if it does turn out not to be, Brian, please let us know so we can declare it un-done in the database. 2129 is also probably done, but we will wait for the pipeline reduction before we ask to have it unplugged, since ET doesn't want to use the cartridge it is mounted on. French, Dan & Co. - we were open under dusty conditions, so please check and CO2 clean the primary, if needed. The IOP and sdssProcedures shake tests passed. IOP v4_34_0 is now declared current. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: --------- Setup test iop (v4_34_0) for shaking. This version has small changes to MOP and SOP. Set the spectrograph focus for a little cooler temp tonight (7C). No other problems during setup. Jon recorded the monitor scan rates so a replacement can be bought for the bad id4 monitor. Night: ----- Started ventilation at about 01:30Z. We delayed ventilation because of high dust counts. Opened enclosure at about 02:00Z to mostly clear skies and high dust counts. 02:53Z Cartridge 3, plate 2600 - Legacy chunk 153 FK5 found in twilight at the edge of fiber 10. Finished the plate with a total exposure time of 3300s 04:52Z Cartridge 5, plate 2751 - Legacy chunk 165 GSOGTF Finished the plate with a total exposure time of 3000s 06:09Z Cartridge 7, plate 2767, - Legacy chunk 165 GSOGTF. Finished the plate with a total exposure time of 3000s 10:03Z Cartridge 4, plate 2129 - Legacy chunk 109 Needed an FK5 to find the field. This plate is probably done, with r1 and r2 (S/N)^2 at 14.9 and 14.8 respectively, and b1 and b2 well over 15, but since we don't need cartridge 4 unplugged for ET, we will leave it plugged until the spectra are processed through the pipeline and we know for sure. Total exposure time 3000s. 08:44Z Cartridge 8, plate 2518 - Legacy chunk 145 GSOGTF Finished the plate with a total exposure time of 3300s 10:03Z Cartridge 6, plate 2176 - SEGUE bright GSOGTF We only got (S/N)^2 = 14.8 in b1, but we are pretty confident this plate is done - enough so that we decided to release it for ET plugging and went so far as to declare it done in the database. Brian, if this plate doesn't meet S/N requirements, please let Steph know so it can be declared un-done. Shakeup tests: ------------- The following tests all passed, so the test IOP was declared current: 1) Does "bell" work in SOP on the Mac landru now? SOP used a bell command that Mac OSX Linux did not understand. SOP now uses the vanilla bell command, and now works from the new landru. 2) Is the PT displayed on the IR camera? Jon changed where he gets the PT position info for the IR camera PT position overlay. The change was benign, and the PT position is still displayed. 3) MOP no longer has "gg400" for the name of the sixth filter wheel slot. The name has been changed to "user", since other filters could be put in the sixth slot (and have been). 4) sdssProcedures - various changes to documents had been made, and all the changes detailed in the shakeup plan and changeLog showed up in the latest version of sdssProcedures. Standard shakeup tests: DIMM camera was powered off. Jon was called. He thinks the problem was a write permissions problem related to some work he had done during the day to the web calendar. It required rebuilding the web server on the irsc computer. After Jon restarted the server from the command line it behaved - or else he fixed the permissions problem from home.
