We battled with wind and clouds the rest of the night. DIMM computer froze up around midnight due to an 'Unknown Hard Error'. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- No problems were discovered during the checkout. Spectro focus was checked but not adjusted; it's set for about +2.0 C. See Problems Section for collimate numbers. Night: ------ 00:50Z - Opened enclosure to cloudy skies. It was clear at sunset, but then clouds formed on top of us. Darn. We found the DIMM computer frozen so we rebooted the computer downstairs and it started working again. ***** 01:25Z - goToField cartridge 9, seguefaint182 plate 2942. Used fk5 to find field in twilight (a rather large offset). Seeing 1.6" 01:55Z - Precals. Delared bad in SOS since the flat came back with a red xsigma value in r2. Moved the collimators +6000, so the spectrographs are now set for a temperature of ~+8C. 02:14Z - Precals, second try. The flat and arc read acceptable values now. 02:19Z - Precals for extra confirmation (and because the button was accidentally hit twice). 02:26Z - 25 min exposure. Seeing 1.6" 02:53Z - 20 min exposure. SOS complained about whopping fibers and big wavelength gaps. 03:16Z - Postcals. We gained 10.2 on these exposures. Combining this with previous 42.3 signal gives us 52.5, which is enough to declare this plate DONE. ***** 03:24Z - Mounted cart 4, segue179 plate 2887. GSFOGTF. 03:35Z - Precals. There were no guide stars when we returned to the field because of clouds. After a minute or so, the clouds passed and we were able to continue exposing. 03:44Z - 20 min exposure. Seeing 1.7" This signal (5.2) when added to previous signal (14.5) gives us 19.7, which is enough to declare this plate DONE. ***** 04:09Z - Mounted cart 2, seguefaint147 plate 2549. Clouds prevented us from finding guide stars on goToField, as well as an fk5 star. We cleared the offsets and tried a sprialPattern next. We were able to find the fk5 at roughly a 20" offset. 04:39Z - Precals. The wind picked up - gusts up to 33.6mph. Heavy oragraphic clouds moved in. We decided to wait until the clouds broke before proceeding. We stopped the guider and closed the flat-field screens after the wind gusts rose to 36mph (oragraphic clouds were still overhead). We sent the telescope to 121,30 and then waited. ***** 06:33Z - There was a slight break in the clouds, so we mounted cartridge 7, segue179 plate 2893 and found an fk5 on the edge of fiber 10. 06:53Z - Precals. We again waited for the clouds to break. 07:22Z - Break in the clouds, but the wind picked up again (gusts ~35mph). Attempted a 25 min exposure. Seeing 2.1" Exposure came back with red sky values, so it was declared BAD. DIMM had an 'Unknown hard error' that froze up the computer. 07:51Z - Wind gusts ~40mph. Started another exposure, but we endStare -aborted it. We moved the telescope to 121,30 and closed the pedals. 08:10Z - Closed the enclosure, but we left the telescope ventilating. 11:28Z - Stopped ventilating.
