One SEGUE bright plate observed (plate 2906) but it is not yet done. Monthly imager bias and flats taken. Axial MIG B showed a larger range of errors than A or C during homing, and did not converge to a lower error. The guider Mac needs a new monitor. Landrupe's monitor was used to set up for the pointing model, but we need it back on Landrupe tomorrow. We accumulated about 24,000 "dust-hours". Please check/clean M1 if needed. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ----------- Checked in new fiducial tables for all three axes. All systems checked and working properly. Display monitor for ad3 is dead. The Focus is currently set for about 10 C. Home/Relax mirrors: During the first attempt at 70 degrees, we had a problem in getting position error down to 50 microsteps for MIG B. While errors for other actutors are steadly getting smaller or stable at +/- 50, the errors for B was bouncing up and down between 0 and 400. For example, when the error is 100, another loop of move/home might give you an error of 400. We did another home/relax process, and actuator B behaved the same as it did in the first attempt. Night: ------ We started the night by obtaining a new pointing model. We ran into a delay during engineering camera setup when we discovered the guider Mac monitor was dead. After scrounging around a bit, without finding an unused monitor that worked, we wound up using Landrupe's monitor. Landrupe will need its monitor back tomorrow afternoon. High sky values suppressed the SoS S/N, but we think these exposures will be useful combined with data taken during dark time. The plate is not yet done. 10:21Z - We mounted the imager for the monthly bias and flats. Data are stored on phoenix in data/photo/optics/54577.
