We helped the MARVELS team with a few tests. Note: We no longer have a problem with the MARVELS plugMapM files (see log for details). The nitrogren gas tank that is next to the wind baffle control box is low. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- Brian developed a script to copy the MARVELS plugMapP files and convert them into plugMapM files. When new MARVELS plates are plugged, this procedure will need to be done: ssh into plate-mapper cd into /d1/home/plates/* and then into the directory of the plate number where the plugMapP files are stored run the script: plugptom type in the plugMapP filename and the cartridge number copy the new plugMapM files over to sdsshost2:/data/spectro/plugMapM Spectro collimation left the same as the previous night - around ~10-11C. Did not ventilate / open at sunset due to heavy clouds and nearby radar returns. Night: ------ 06:54Z - We performed a test for the MARVELS team to verify that the telescope information transfers to their exposure headers. We issued a goToField -gflat (with three stop buttons in, put visual proof that the telescope did not move while it was in the enclosure) to test the plugMap files for guiding as well. Everything worked. 07:30Z - We performed another MARVELS test. We hooked up the gang connector with the fibers from the hatch under the telescope and plugged it into the current cartridge (9 plate 3033). Then we fed light down the fibers by turning on the FF lamps. The weather conditions worsened. Clouds, radar, and high humidity.
