APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Thursday December 3, 2009 (MJD 55169) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Elana Malanushenko Viktor Malanushenko Kaike Pan (afternoon) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- 55169.0 0.85 23:12 10:13 MARVELS 12.0 hours Flexible Engineering Observed of snowstorms ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- Snowfall, clouds and hight humidity kept us closed. We did not have observations last night. We had alert "Serious boss.SP1LN2Fill Reported by camCheck" several times during the night. We made force fill of spectro and "cc startfillseq". During the night we monitored the temperatures of LN2 dewar and CCDs, checked filling camera from LN2 dewar. ln2stat for sp1 (r1, which was not on telescope) and b1 showed "fillfault - yes". The temperature CCD was pretty stable -99.6 and the temperature of LN2 was increased from 87.8 to 89.8 (morning). The was inconsistence between plugged plates and plate database. Cart 4, plugged 3706, platedb 3413 7 3707 3634 11 3521 3643 We have new version of MCP installed. Our developers took advantege of snow and endineering to try their new codes. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- We had critical alerts on "imager has been dead for xxx s". But we checked the camera with" iccSoundOff", "cc imstat", the camera itself seems okay. A bias run was taken, data looked normal. During afternoon checkout, poolInit does not work, power cycle the pool disk fixed the problem. We had utility power and phone back. We had critical alters (on imager and MCP) from STUI, Craig sad Robert is working on it. No other problem to report. MARVELS lamps were turned on 22:30Z. 00:50Z Kaike & Viktor put two additional dewars into enclosure. Night: ------ It was cloudy, snow, and high humidity. We did not open. 00:34Z made calibrations trio T00:34:37.810 00:40Z MCP is rebooted as Craig recommended to us. APO.Craig: It should be v6_6_1, using mcp_fiducials v1_82. Cart 14 plate 3675, Boss. We made bias, dark, flat, and arc calibration exposures. We also made "so hartmann" and checked that we were in foc. 04:20Z We started STUI on telescope as "observer" to monitor boss camera's status. 04:30Z endNight finished ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8167 00:05Z 00:23Z 100 O 143.44 147.95 44 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 21:24Z 23 21 18 223 (SW) 1281 - 21:56Z 22 21 14 239 (WSW) 11181 - 22:28Z 21 20 11 256 (WSW) 17589 - 23:00Z 22 21 16 250 (WSW) 5944 - 23:32Z 22 21 8 241 (WSW) 19727 - 00:02Z 22 21 12 238 (WSW) 1307 - 01:06Z 21 17 5 186 (S) 157 - 01:38Z 19 16 6 203 (SSW) 2916 - 02:10Z 20 16 11 234 (SW) 2551 - 02:42Z 20 15 14 76 (ENE) 24 - 03:14Z 11 5 16 73 (ENE) 1806 - 03:46Z 16 11 8 344 (NNW) 53 - 04:19Z 18 13 2 350 (NNW) 35 - 04:51Z 15 10 7 48 (NE) 113 - 05:24Z 17 13 1 293 (WNW) 26 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- We did not open last night. and did not ventilate.
