APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Friday December 18, 2009 (MJD 55184) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Viktor Malanushenko Elena Malanushenko Kaike Pan (afternoon) ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- BOSS Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We could observe the only two hours at the beginning oif the night and the rest was lost with clouds and high humidity. We observed one cartridge 13 plate 3588 5x900s exposures and declare it as DONE. SoS worked very slow. We could not see the (S/N)^2 of our observations as it was not completed by the morning. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ---------- All systems, actors were checked and working properly. Cartridge 13, plate 3588, was mounted and collimations were checked. No problem to report. 22:30Z: started ventilation. Night: ------ 00:00Z enclosure was off It was clear and photometric at the beginning of the night. Cart 13, plate 3588 00:36Z gotoField 00:39 hartmann, ff=105333,34 requested move for sp1 1386 and for sp2 441 were applied. 00:50 calibration f=35,36 01:16 science 900 sec, we took 5 exposures ff=37,38,39,40,41 During the middle of science observations there were cirrus, seeing were ~ 1.6", foc ~ 530, temperature -2.1C. By the end of last science exposure the humidity raised dramatically, we decided to close after calibration exposures will be done. 02:44 calibration, flat and arc ff=42,43 Initially we thought that SoS was not running and looked for how to restart it. We contacted with SoS team and found out that Sos was running and busy with reduction of daytime flat tests. They said that they did not expect that it might take so long time to reduce that flat sequence. (Last night the similar flat sequence was reduced by the time we went on sky.) We discussed this problem with SoS team and they will work with this. We noted also that two type of files were created on disk, sdR* su usual and sdU* new . As we could not see the results of 3588 plate reduction even by the end of night, we used our estimations, based on last night reduction of this plate, and declared this plate as done. 02:56Z enclosure was ON because the difference 3C and below with strong downward trend. Cart 14 plate 3607. It was mounted inside enclosure Humidity went down. Some clouds around but we think to observe. 04:10Z enclosure is off gotoFiled and made hartmann. Clouds began to form at the top of mountain. We saw local radar return around Holloman. We closed the second time. 04:40 enclosure is On but we still keep ventilation. Overcast, heavy clouds. We stayed closed. 06:50Z stopped ventilation as the humidity was up. The high humididy kept us closed by the end of night. 12:15Z endNight is finished. ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): QA Procedures Done (y/n): Files 105223 - 105326 are daytime tests.
