Needed an FK5 to find field, but last night's offsets were still in. Conditions were very good. Finished the plate with a total exposure of 2220 sec. Smear done. 03:31Z Cartridge 2, plate 937. Stars on slew, with offsets from last plate. Finished plate with total exposure of 2220 sec. Smear done. 04:50Z Cartridge 3, plate 991. Needed an FK5 to find the field. Declared plate done with a total exposure of 3000 sec. Smear done. 06:22Z At this point, we thought we would be switching to imaging. Just as we were about to walk out for the instrument change, clouds started to skim the S horizon. Since their motion was to the NE, we felt there was enough risk that they would disrupt imaging that we went with another cartridge. Cartridge 4, plate 1008. Stars on slew. Declared done with a total exposure time of 2220 sec. Smear done. 07:37Z Still uncertain about the clouds, and how far north they will go. Cartridge 5, plate 1013. Stars on slew. Finished plate with a total exposure time of 2160 sec. Smear done. 08:38Z We see some clouds forming to the north of the main stream. We are committed to spectroscopy for the remainder of the night. Cartridge 6, plate 1014. Stars on slew. Declared done with a total exposure of 2340 sec. Smear done. 09:50Z Clouds getting worse. Cartridge 7, plate 1019. Stars on slew. Declared this one done with a total exposure of 2160 sec. Smear done. 11:01Z Cartridge 8, plate 1020. Stars on slew. Ran out of time on this plate, so could not declare it done, but did get good signal in two exposures totaling 1440 sec. 11:48Z Cartridge 9, plate 1039. Stars on slew. This plate already had good signal and a smear.
