APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY SDSS 2.5M OBSERVING LOG Saturday June 28, 2003 (MJD 52819) ---=== OBSERVING TEAM ===--- Night: Howard Brewington Jurek Krzesinski ---=== OBSERVING PLAN ===--- Science! ---=== OBSERVING SUMMARY ===--- We've done only onle plate tonight: cart 8 plt 1352 and got useful signal on cart 4 plt 1024. Otherwise night lost due to clouds. ---=== OBSERVING LOG ===--- Afternoon: ___________ Spectro focus was adjusted; see problems section for deatails. Night: ----------- Clouds and rain at the beginning of the night, but after two hours of waiting we opened. 06:00Z Cart 8 plt 1352 mounted. Fk5: we had to use fiber 11 to get the fk5 star trace, (no too large to correct errors were noticed). Yesterday with the same plate and about the same time we found a fk5 star in fiber 10 without a problem. No clouds in the direction we are pointing.Plate done with additional(to yesteray's) 2 exposures (expiration time passed on the last one). 07:27Z Cart 1 plt 1355 mounted. Stars on slew. Clouds arrived while exposing, we didn't make that exposure useful. Plate expired, so we swaped cartridges. 08:05Z Cart 4 plt 1024 mounted. Fk5 used to find the guide stars (but possible clouds obscured the view when we tried to get guide stars on the first place). First exposure lost due to clouds. We've got good second exposure and had to replace cartriges. 09:25Z Cart 9 plt 1033 mounted. Fk5 used (because of clouds) to find guide stars, but a cloud coverage was too thick in that direction too see an fk5 star. Then we realized, that we didn't loadC a cartridge and we were looking in a wrong direction. After loading the cart and gotoField again, guide stars were found without a problem, since we didn't look at that thick cloud anymore. However now it's only slightly better - we can see the guide stars, but the efficiency is below 20% and decreasing... wating. Plate expired and there is a twilight. endNight rejoiced ---=== IMAGING RUN SUMMARY ===--- Run Time Stripe Lambda Last Flavor Comments Start End Begin End Frame ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4018 23:19Z 23:50Z 100 O -24.44 -16.50 39 ignore ---=== IMAGING RUN DETAILS ===--- ---=== SKIPPY RESULTS ===--- Run Frame nFrames stars muErr muRms nuErr nuRms rot az el --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---=== LTMATCH RESULTS ===--- Run Field nFields alt az nGood rowMean rowSig colMean colSig rot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---=== SPECTROSCOPY DATA SUMMARY ===--- Summary Checked (y/n): y QA Procedures Done (y/n): y UT Exp Time flavor comment (S/N)^2 totals ========================================== b1 r1 b2 r2 ----- sequence 21588, plate 1033 ------- 00:08 21588 10.0 flat 00:11 21589 2.0 arc 00:16 21590 2.1 arc 00:18 21591 2.1 arc 00:33 21592 2.1 arc 00:36 21593 2.1 arc ----- sequence 21594, plate -9999 ------- 00:56 21594 0.0 bias ----- sequence 21595, plate 1352 ------- 06:37 21595 10.0 flat 06:39 21596 2.0 arc 06:59 21597 900.1 target 07:13 21598 600.1 target 07:20 21599 240.0 smear plate done ----- sequence 21600, plate 1355 ------- 07:30 21600 10.0 flat 07:33 21601 2.0 arc 07:54 21602 1069.4 target not enough S/N on this one. ----- sequence 21603, plate 1024 ------- 08:17 21603 10.0 flat 08:20 21604 2.0 arc 08:49 21605 1500.1 target not enough S/N on this one. 09:12 21606 1200.1 target this is good. ----- sequence 21607, plate 1033 ------- 09:50 21607 10.0 flat 09:52 21608 2.0 arc ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE I ===--- Time Instrument Az Alt Rot Scale pos offset pos offset pos offset ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:44Z 8 1352 250.25 0.0038 52.45 0.0026 97.43 0.0000 1.000190 ---=== TELESCOPE OFFSETS AND SCALE II ===--- ---=== DATA TAPE SUMMARY ===--- Goes: JL 6604 Stays: JL 6605 ---=== FOCUS LOG ===--- setmir piston Temp Wind Time Inst scale M1 M2 Foc Az Alt (C) MPH Dir filt fwhm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 06:44Z 8 1352 1.00019 -1875 -581 -200 250 52.5 13.8 10 181 gdr 1.7 ---=== WEATHER LOG ===--- Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust DIMM Sky 23:29Z 66 27 3 214 (SW) 1503 - clouds 00:01Z 64 36 9 277 (W) 1937 - clouds 00:33Z 59 35 9 112 (ESE) 905 - clouds 01:03Z 54 36 13 116 (ESE) 880 - clouds 01:34Z 51 39 16 60 (ENE) 1350 - 02:04Z 48 42 22 48 (NE) 1786 - 03:26Z 53 36 6 86 (E) 514 - 03:58Z 54 33 16 142 (SE) 533 - 04:30Z 54 33 8 87 (E) 534 - 05:02Z 57 31 3 110 (ESE) 616 - 05:34Z 57 31 3 183 (S) 677 - 06:06Z 56 31 8 181 (S) 635 - 06:39Z 56 32 9 180 (S) 780 - 07:09Z 57 32 7 209 (SSW) 908 - 07:39Z 57 33 6 239 (WSW) 961 - 08:10Z 57 33 0 271 (W) 968 - 08:41Z 59 32 1 251 (WSW) 1160 - 09:11Z 57 31 1 260 (W) 841 - 09:42Z 57 31 6 262 (W) 686 - 10:12Z 56 32 7 236 (SW) 600 - 10:42Z 57 31 6 202 (SSW) 702 - ---=== TELESCOPE STATUS ===--- Z Doors open, fans on Z Enclosure off Z Enclosure on, fans off, shut down.
